You know what? A year later here we all are. Same old story. In my opinion, ANY of them can go for next year.

I'm serious that there's about a 20-30% chance i'm not. I'm really, really sick of this stupid drought overshadowing *everything* the Cubs do.

This year's Cubs team was just like the last 100 years plus of Cub's teams. It sucks to be a fan of the biggest group of chokers in all of sports. During my lifetime I've seen the Bears go to the Superbowl twice, the Bulls win it 6 times, the Illini get to the championship game, and the Cubs blow it year after year. Lets face it, its just not gonna happen for the Cubs.

One day they'll win it and it will be that much sweeter.

Liar.

They'll never win it.

I've wasted 30 years. this loss is much more bitter than all the rest.

Good for the Dodgers.

They showed up to play and took advantage of the opportunities given to them. You gotta earn it at each level, and they earned this one.

It would have been nice had the Cubs put up any kind of legit effort though.

But they didn't. And this is what happened. It is what it is.

The Cubs are getting into the playoffs much more often now than in their last 60 years. It gives them a better chance to go all the way, but it also drastically increases the odds of things like this happening. I'll take that so long as they keep putting a competitive team out there. Eventually, you'll punch through.

Aramis Ramirez was as bad as Soriano the last two years.

DeRosa, Theriot, Soto, Edmonds, Dempster, Zambrano, Harden...... Who didn't suck?

Sorry. I seriously feel awful for all of you, and I really didn't care who won this series.

Keep your heads up, they'll be back. One day they'll win it and it will be that much sweeter.

I'm only 20 and I realize we're never winning a World Series.

It is more bitter. Why is that? I am not down about it, like I was last year, this year I am PISSED.

The odds of *This* happening are insanely low. Good teams do not get blown out this often, this consistently, this many times in a row. It's beyond statistically improbable.

Is this what having terminal cancer feels like?

No, it's not! My mom went into the hospital on Thursday. This series was disappointing but nothing people should get too down about. The Cubs had a great regular season, it just didn't workout in the end.

because all of the awesome moments -- the comebacks, the home runs, the late rallies, the no-hitter, all of it -- are for absolutely nothing in the end.

IMO 2003 was the worst because they were one game away from going to the WS. At least the last two years they showed their true colors early and lost the first 3 to spare us the drama.

I've been unemployed for five months (well, I have a 'job', but it's pulling orders in a warehouse) since I graduated, and these guys kept me sane that whole time more than anything else could. I think that more than anything is what I take from this season...that during a really crappy time in my life, the Cubs helped.

This wasn't the year. You know what? Some other year will be.
