In the post-game interview, Lou interrupted a question about Fukudome, saying he didn't want to hear any more about Fukudome. Said the kid is struggling and he'll put Reed Johnson or Fontenot out there, and that there was no reason to put him out there anymore.

Maybe its time to look to Japan again, Kosuke. Some guys just can't hack it.

Edited to add quote:

"Yeah, you know what, ugh, from now on I don't want to hear about Fukudome anymore as far as whether he's going to play or not. I'm gonna play Fontenot or Reed Johnson or somebody else and that's the end of that story. The kid's struggling and there's no sense in sending him out there anymore."

Fukudome is terrible... thank God Blackhawks season starts soon!

They promise us their young talent will carry them through and that we shouldn't worry about the lack of a second-line center.

Never heard *that* one before.

I didn't hear the post game stuff from Lou. Did he say anywhere close to the following, "what do you want me to say?" or "what can i do?"???

Sadly, I think the Blackhawks have a better chance to get out of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs (with a 2nd line center) than the Cubs do to get out of the first round of the MLB playoffs.

I think there's a decent chance Fukudome goes back to Japan, if he has the option to do so. I'm sure this year has been humiliating for him, and I'm sure Lou doesn't want him in the team's plans for next year.

And rightfully so.

I certainly hope that doesn't happen. It would be humiliating for him and the Cubs. I have the utmost hope that he's able to work hard in the offseason and come back strong next year.

I'm not saying he wasn't a detriment to the team offensively this season, just that I would hate to see something that started so promising end so poorly and abruptly.

I don't really care if it's been humiliating for him. He tries hard, I'm sure, but he's not very good. I don't want the Cubs to have a $48 million 4th outfielder.

Really? If there was some way to get out from part or all of his contract, you wouldn't jump all over it? I sure would.

On the bright side, Felix Pie showed great plate discipline tonight. Maybe we could give him half the time we've given Fukudome to adjust to MLB pitching.

Lou is a moron. Let's think about the sequence of events involving Fukudome.

-Fukudome sucks terribly for about 4 straight months

-Fukudome starts playing only against RHP

-Fukudome still sucks

-Cubs make the playoff, Lou put Fukudome in starting lineup

-FUkudome still sucks

Seriously, Fukudome has been trash for months. Why is Lou surprised that he's not performing? Why did he not anticpate that? Dumb.

The obvious answer as to why Lou handled this terribly, is because he is pretty much an idiot, and as terrible at managing as baseball team as 95% of managers, which is to say pretty much bad as Howry.

I responded to this thread without reading any responses, so I am sorry if this is exactly what anyone else said, but my lineup Saturday would be this.

1. LF- Soriano

2. RF- Johnson

3. 1B- Lee

4. 3B- Aramis

5. CF- Edmonds

6. 2B- DeRosa

7. C- Soto

8. SS- Theriot

Dexter, why do you post here? Seems you have so much pent up hate and anger that you should be talking to a psychiatrist rather than posting negative bullhowry on these forums.

I'm a little stunned he actually said that. Anyway, I'd love to see Fukudome head back to Japan. Having say... Dunn in the outfield would make a Pie/Johnson platoon completely adequate.
