Hell it doesn't even remotely make sense... near 100 wins without being able to beat righties? What the hell is he smoking.

They may or may not have to.

Depends what happens in the rest of the games. Probably will need a makeup Monday, though.

Mets fans thoughts on the Cubs:

I've always said they're not a World Series-caliber team this year, and I'm not changing my mind. They're gonna get shut down by righty pitching. If they play the Angels or Rays in the World Series, Lackey/Santana or Garza/Shields is like 4 automatic wins. Their lefties can't even hit righties. Against Parnell and Smith, they've looked positively [bad]. I'm not scared of Zambrano, who is a head case, and I'm not scared of Harden, who can't get out of the 6th and might legit injure himself before the playoffs even start. Marmol and Wood are great, but that means nothing if they can't get to them, and Harden aside this team just doesn't look substantially different from the one that got ---SOAPDROPPING--- mowed down by Arizona in the NLDS last year. Wouldn't be surprised if they were one and done. They split with the Phils at home, and if that's who they end up playing in the NLCS, I don't like their chances, which sucks because I hate the Phightin's more than I hate looking at recent pictures of Amy Winehouse.

Where is that from?

I'm assuming that one or two of the smarter posters on whatever forum that is jumped all over that.

http://www.metsrefugees.com, it's probably the largest Mets community I can find, but the quality of posting is rather poor. It is like the "dodger blues" board for the Mets.

Oh, wow... that's friggin terrible. Their gameday subforum has about 100 threads started yesterday after they lost. Each with like 0-5 replies.

Oh man. This is setting up for a veritable explosion of hysteria among Crew fans.

Mets 1/2 game up on the Crew. It's Monday the 29th. Lou fields a team consisting mostly of our bench, the Mets win, and Milwaukee goes nuclear.

Heck, apparently there were whispers from Milwaukee about Tuesday's game when Lou decided to rest just Ramirez for a game.

Haha, I remember Dodger Blues. I just went there, and it's hilariously bad. There's a thread called "Dodgers collapse thread", and people are saying "The Dodgers will go into F**town [san Fran] and will get swept. [san Fransisco] will celebrate like a cure for AIDS has been found."

They're so immature, it's ridiculous. Same thing with that Mets forum.

Another Mets forum that's more controlled is mets.scout.com. I've never actually read more than a couple posts on the game thread, but at least it's not as cluttered and profane.

Yeah, well, Lou's obligation is to the health of the Cubs, not the happiness of the Brewers.

And I believe the Cubs should flat out refuse to go to either game, even if it results in a automatic loss. A unnecessary road trip right before the playoffs, is not something the Cubs, need to be interested in doing.

Clubs usually take on the attitude of their manager, and if Piniella is perceived to being uptight about rain delays, re-scheduled games, etc., it would possibly lead to the club taking on that mentality. I'd rather we stick with the mantra of who cares who we play, or where we play, we're going to show up and kick the Howry out of you this year.

LOL. No.

And what about when Selig says that the punishment for not going is forfeiting a game in the playoffs?

Not realistic, you say? Neither is the notion that the Cubs would even consider refusing to play a game they're told to play (and which settles the wild card)

So then what's to stop the bench players from going out there and half-assing it?

I'm not condoning just outright refusing to play, but it would seem kinda pointless. Go out there, let the scrubs play, don't play a single regular, and then listen to Brewers fans piss and moan and whine. I don't care. Do what's best for the Cubs, period.

Isn't Houston like 3 1/2 back of the WC? Seems like the Magic Number to eliminate them would be right about 1, right? I'm not thinking we're going to Houston again this year.

If this game against the Mets is rained out and not rescheduled, there would be some groaning from Milwaukee, but it'd be pretty dumb. None of this would've mattered if they didn't completely crap the bed to start the month. As far as I'm concerned, us Brewer fans should be more upset about Fielder scuffling until that Cubs series, Hart becoming a black hole in the second half of the season, Braun likely playing at less than 100%, Yost torpedoing another season, and Sheets going down at the worst possible time. This game not being rescheduled should be like #15 on a list of things to be upset about. It would definitely suck, but it's really the Brewers' own fault that they got themselves into this mess.

Edit: FWIW, Houston's elimination number is 2, so they could possibly be eliminated tonight. They're facing Cueto tonight with Oswalt on the mound, though, so I don't know how likely that is. They'll likely be gone by the weekend, though.

You're more rational than most though. Also, there would be Cub fans doing the same in a role reversal.

Heck, I think I remember LaRussa complaining about a team resting regulars once. Could have been us even.
