Here are the numbers I posted in today's Game Thread...

For September:

27th in Runs (54)

22nd in BA (.252)

23rd in OBP (.318)

23rd in SLG (.397)

20th in OPS (.729)

29th in H (111)

21st in BB (43)

Still time to snap out of it, but this isn't the offense we've seen the rest of the season.

I don't think it's out of line to be concerned about the offense. They've seemingly abandoned what made them so potent for the first 4.5 months of the season. Ryan Theriot is having another late season swoon; DLee's hot streak might have been an aberration; deep counts against pitchers seems to be a thing of the past. My worry level is indeed increasing. I'll concede that there might be having a let-down the last two games, so we'll see how they respond against the Cards on Friday.

Not much that can be done at this point.

Reminds me of a rant I heard about a week ago on NY radio. The host was demanding that Minaya "get some guys in here" to fix the rotation and bullpen, this year. Didn't care where they came from but he had to get guys in here. But he wasn't interested in prospects because you can't trust them.

Those numbers have to be heavily skewed by the 8 of 9 streak at the beginning of the month. This team and that team are clearly not the same. I'm not sure if it's logical to look at the overall September numbers to make a conclusion.

I'd be curious to see how the other playoff teams offenses look compared to the other months. Not that the Cubs aren't showing a serious swoon, but I wonder how much of it is just the grind of the season.

God, sample size anyone? We aren't even talking about a month, we are talking about half a month.

no. Just enjoy the play-offs. If I was paying attention to this board, there is nothing I shouldn't be concerned with.

Especially Rich Harden.

Nope, no reason to be concerned there. I never was.

You sure about that?

You bet I am I don't get "concerned" over anything in sports. The day I start worrying over sports issues is the day I give them up.
