MARMOL JUST DID WHAT VALVERDE DOES!

EVERYONE OSTRACIZE MARMOL NOW!

Come on, did he jump up and down, do a throat slash, flap his arms like a rooster, and mess his pants?

close. he jumped, gave a primal yell, squatted, clenched his fists.....let's not be complete homers about this. I'm on record saying I don't care that either act like they do, but let's not pretend that the Cubs don't do it

The difference is that Marmol does it after he just got himself out of a potentially game-saving jam, and Valverde does it after getting 3 straight outs with his team up 2 or 3 runs.

and he's not a Cub. don't forget that part

Rationalization it is, but the next time a Cub pitcher goes nuts after a meaningless strikeout, I'll be sure to call him out just for you.

I wouldn't call a strikeout that ends the game and gives the team the win meaningless, regardless of the lead, but whatever, you think what you want

Nah you're right, derwood. It just makes you happy to see your team cheering and pissed when you see someone else cheering.

Even though Phelps just missed that double, he was overmatched in that AB. I figured it was a matter of time before he swung and missed for the K.

And that 0-1 pitch was a total strike. I mean it was thigh high and had most of the plate.

Not really.

It was well inside and curved to be caught in a much better position than it crossed the plate. It happens.

But yes, Phelps was well overmatched.

Says the Cards' fan.

The pitch in question was most certainly a ball.
