Today's "Don't enjoy the best season in 63 years and instead freak out about games that might occur in a month" Moment:

It's never too early to look ahead to October, especially if you're a Cubs fan. But you might not enjoy the view. If the Brewers win the wild card, the Cubs would get stuck with a first-round date against the NL West champ. And that's a more terrifying proposition than it might seem in the W-L column.

If it's Arizona, that means a Game 1 date with Brandon Webb (4-1, 2.53 lifetime against the Cubbies), a Game 2 match with Dan Haren (7 IP, two earned runs in his only start against the Cubs as a D-back) and a Game 3 nightmare against Randy Johnson (13-0, 1.84 in his career against the Cubs, the third-best record in history for any pitcher against any team). But even if the Dodgers win the West, we remind you that the Cubs scored only 19 runs in seven games this year against Dodgers pitchers. Some fun, huh?

"You can argue that there's no better chance for an upset [in the first round] than the Cubs face," one scout said, "because pitching can be the great equalizer. And remember, all the pressure will be on the Cubs to get to the World Series."

lol at Randy Johnson being referred to as a "nightmare"

I don't care what his record against the Cubs of the past 10 years is. He's not that good anymore. He's had a nice run for a little over a month, but I'll take my chances with whoever we'd have facing him.

I would have agreed with you all the way up until the point where we got shutout by him last month. Now I'm petrified of him again.

Has it started raining in the Wrigleyville area yet?

Hopefully it passes by gametime.

Rained a tad.

It's actually partly sunny right now.

Except we were crushing the ball off him all game.

Just a bad night.

Not to derail this thread, but I think there will be a significant difference when we have the HFA this year in the NLDS.

It'll have more to do with the fact that we're a lot better this year, but that too.

we gotta hollld on, to what we got

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUSDS9pkA2Y lol is this the Cubs new theme song?

It pisses me off that whenever I go out to a bar around here and either a band or jukebox is playing Journey ,all the pieces of garbages start waving their Nascar T-shirts and go nuts about the White Sox and even the bands rip on the Cubs to get a rise out of the scumbags. It's so stupid now whenever the damn song comes everyone goes crazy and its just associated with the Sox

If our offense is cold in October any 3 pitchers will look scary.

If our offense is hot in October any 3 pitchers should be scared of the Cubs.

If our offense is normal in October, I'll take our chances.

Yeah, but it's not like we're facing Webb/Doug Davis/Livan Hernandez like last year...

They also have this guy named Adam Dunn who likes to hit baseballs out of Wrigley Field.

The DBacks do scare me, make no mistake about it.

If you limit it to NL teams only you get a 2.46 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP

(yea, I conveniently did that just to drop the start against the Sox)

It should be.

Bon Jovi > Journey

(even though I like Journey)

*Some* Journey. Not the sappy ballads they did to rake in millions (unless you're with a girl who likes it).

The other Journey.

Is Lou withholding the lineups for some reason? I can't find them anywhere, but I see the Phillies lineup

I've seen lineups delayed, but this is I think the first time I've ever seen it be within 25 minutes of gametime and still not be there.

There it finally comes:

Soriano

Theriot

Lee

Ramirez

Soto

Johnson

Fukudome

DeRosa

Dempster
