Jason Marquis: 8-7, 4.76

Zach Duke: 4-12, 5.29

With the win in game two, the Cubs have now won nine straight series'. That doesn't mean we should blow this game just because we can. Jason Marquis had a great start going against the Nationals, until he fell apart and allowed a few runs and walks. Marquis is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA in four starts against the Pirates in 2008. Zach Duke is pretty bad, and hasn't gotten a win since June 9th. He's 0-2 with a 5.01 ERA in four starts against the Cubs this season.

Let's get another one. Go Cubs!

What the hell? This game starts at 1130 AM? At least I won't have to wait long for the game to start when I get to work.

Holy 9:30 a.m. start times, Batman!

I have to head in for work around Noon so I might actually get up early to watch this game.

It would obviously be great if the Cubs could win this game and sweep the series especially with a tough four-game set with Philly coming this weekend.

Go Cubs and go Cards (though I'm not holding my breath on the latter).

I'm normally all about earlier start times, but this is a little ridiculous. If Marquis decided not to have his collapse inning tonight and just not suck, I'd be all about it.

It's not pretty here right now. If the rain starts, it won't stop. The worst thing about this is that if the Cubs are 1/2 game in or out of a playoff spot on Sept. 28 (which they won't be), the Cubs will be back in Pittsburgh 9/29. There are no possible makeup days between now and the end of the season, thanks to the great MLB schedule. Cubs off days are 9/4, 9/8 and 9/15. Pirates are off 8/28, 9/1, and 9/22.

The best hope is that it's dry when the game starts and then only a light rain starts and continues throughout, before hitting hard at about 4-5pm.

I doubt this game is going to happen. The forecast just changed as I typed this. Only 30% chance of showers til about 1pm, but it went from a 10% chance of starting at 11am, to a 30% chance of starting at 10am in 2 minutes.

If they somehow get this game in and the Cubs win, they'll be 33 games over for the first time ever since 1945. Their current 32 games over was tops in 1984 and 1969.

The Cubs were an identical 82-50 132 games into the 1945 season on September 8th, the last time they were off to this good a start through 132 games.

I know its meaningless, but I'll be pissed if this game doesn't go down and the Cubs finish 99-62 with a game against the Pirates not being made up.

They can't do that, can they?

They can and will assuming it doesn't affect the playoffs, which it almost certainly wouldn't.

Yeah, there's a reason the 1984 Cubs finished the year 96-65, and it wasn't because they only scheduled them for 161 games on the year.

Well that will probably happen then.

Accuweather.com says things will clear up around 7:00 PM CT tonight, but I don't think they'll wait that long, even if that forecast is accurate.
