OK, I'm being a bit harsh. They could miss out on winning the division and home field because of this game. That has about a 10% chance of happening.

I'm not gonna flame the board in delusion or kill myself in depression, but damn is it hard to swallow to know the best we can do vs the soapdropping Nationals this year is finish the season series at .500 vs them.

13 runs in 4 innings. After 0 in the first 5.

Where's the mass-vomit smily??

well yeah that is annoying, but we also swept the brewers in a 4-game series in milwaukee, and that certainly wasn't likely to happen either.

I hearby promise to dedicate at least 3 posts in the NLCS game threads to our failure to have a winning record against the Nationals this year.

If I remember, I'll contribute too.

Actually, I probably won't be here for playoff game threads.... they would drive me absolutely nuts and I'll probably be sitting on a friend's couch or at a bar or something.

Most of it isn't complaining about the Cubs. Most of it is people complaining about the complaining.

Apparently you're not supposed to point out when they suck. Who knew?

Okay I apologize to everybody for acting [expletive]. I just get so worked up over losses this seaosn for some reason. You'd think it would be the opposite since the team is so good.

Most of the complaining is completely hyperbolic Chicken Little crap that occasionally gets old, based on expectations that have gone through the stratosphere.

And yet nobody thinks they are being irrational about it. It's practically trolling. Unless you think the majority of the board wasn't aware that a 13-5 loss to the Nationals isn't good.

or maybe some people just enjoy posting in game threads and are tired of them being overrun by irrational fools who can't keep the big picture in mind when watching the cubs lose one game.

I know this is thrown out there a lot, but could this classify as the worst loss of the season? I mean the Nats. How many games this season have we had a 4 run lead and ended up losing the game? Not a lot that I can think of.Theres little doubt in my mind that the Cannadian Connection will come through this weekend and make the Nats look like the Nats again, so as long as the offense can scratch out a few runs a game, we'll be fine.

The good news is, they scored about 2 weeks worth of runs this afternoon, so shouldnt be getting any more any time soon. Now some please start tomorows game thread and put this one in the past.

The worst loss of the season? I'm honestly not sure what that means, but if there were any rankings, this would not be it.

I meant that in a literal sense, as far as game play. Not as far as meaning gos. Im aware that its essentially meaningless, but we havent been blown out quite like that in a while.

It seems that when the Cubs are stinking up the joint, people get a lot more irritated at eachother and over react not only to the game than othe posts. IE, the now defunct Cubs GM. Sure hes make his ridiculous posts, but I never thought that that was any more ridiculous than others flipping out every time hed type "ballgame". Sure, it was annoying and excessive, but the over reaction was a bit much.

The Reds loss a couple of days ago was far more frustrating than this one.

Yeah, but this one was down right embarassing.

What does that even mean?

It's funny how UM has gone from being one of the 2 to one of the 10....

I'm proud of UMFan. :)

My sanity can take a blowout much easier than a close loss.

The Cubs got their collective anuses handed to them by the worst team in baseball.

Its like if your the captain of the fooball team and some turd with a star track shirt and spock ears kicks the crap out of you.

There were a lot of bad things that happened in this game, but by far the most disappointing thing was how poorly Gaudin pitched.

Gaudin and Cotts have the right to bad outing. Marquis and Howry, on the other hand need to go, especially since we alrady have better alternatives. Who knows, Marquis is usually pretty solid the first few innings, maybe hed thrive in a bullpen role.
