Ted looks great tonight.

I'm reminded of all the garbage pitchers who turned into Cy Young when they faced Dusty Baker's Cubs. I wonder how long this proven winner of a manager can get paid before people see a common denominator between Dusty and his pathetic, Bondsless offenses.

Although, Ted isn't a garbage pitcher.

He needs his horses.

I have a feeling a lot of managers could look good if they had a .600 OBP 73-HR behemoth to slide into their lineup.

I wasn't implying he was, I'm just enjoying that he looks like a flat out stud against this team in particular.

Yeah, I also think a lot of guys would have done pretty well with a rotation of Wood, Prior, Clement, and Z. While they were all healthy.

It bears mentioning that Soriano is walking 6.2% of the time this season. Even he's getting into the patience act the rest of the team is.

2004 - 5.0%

2005 - 4.8%

2006 - 9.2% (lots of "unintentional" walks that season with the Nats)

2007 - 5.0%

2008 - 6.2%

Inspite of himself, he did alright. That season, at least. He gets credit for being at the helm of the Cubs' deepest playoff run of the modern era. 5 outs from a Cubs Ws appearance, 9 outs from a Giants WS victory - proven winner, dude!

But he blew both of those games horribly. Dusty isn't totally at fault for Game 6, but he holds a good share of the blame.

So for those of you who have the benefit of seeing Len and Bob, how many times has Len mentioned that TRL has a no hitter?

Once, basically

Please be sure to keep a running tally on that as long as the no-no is in tact :)

.380 OBP with men on this year - I suspect that having a more productive bottom of the order, and therefore more men on base when he bats, leads pitchers to pitch somewhat around him with Theriot on deck this year. It looks like a greater variation in his situational OBP this year vs others in his career. Additionally, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he's drawn 7 walks in 18 plate appearances. Small sample size, sure, but it makes sense from a pitcher's perspective.

Edit: The variation exists in IsoD as well, so this is not just avg driven.
