Sorry, Cuse, but the Orange were lucky to get 10 points today. Northwestern's defense dominated and if not for a few stupid mistakes and Bacher's poor accuracy in the first half, the game could have easily been 40+ to 3. I'm not sure there's anything positive to take away from it other than your punter unleashed a few good ones. That 72 yard punt into a slight breeze was impressive, though it just rolled into the endzone for the touchback.

It's the same team I've seen for the past 5 years Jon. To put up those numbers against that defense is just what a Robinson team does. It's one thing to be slow and to be able to tackle but to be slow and not be able to tackle, well it's just the same old story. We've gone from beating (BE teams old and new) Nebraska, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Colorado (in their peak), Georgia, Clemson and LSU in the 80's and 90's to this.

god st. louis is such a disgusting city. what is the point of its existence again

Beer.

Seriously, I always kind of laugh when people bag on the city of St. Louis. Yes, the downtown area sucks. It's unsafe, dirty, and doesn't offer much of anything to do. The only time I go downtown is when the Cubs are in town or for work. But get outside the downtown area and there's plenty of stuff to do. Next time you're here go to the Central West End or the Clayton area.

SUPERLOL WANNSTEDT

how does he still have a job? i remember i made a poll about him and what level of football he was qualified to coach at. i believe that i voted "pop warner"

I just laughed out loud when I realized he was still coaching Pitt. How does he still have a job?

Beating WV?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he would've been fired if Pitt didn't win that game.

Sheridan just looks awful. I'm loving every bit of this.

Yep and since Rodriguez didn't make any good adjustments that game (choke), that and the guy can recruit for some reason. I didn't understand all the Pitt love by the "experts" as their are 5 teams in the BE better than they are and they have Wannstedt. I think the experts need a name team like Pitt even though many other teams are better.

Clemson is always overrated (nice win by Bama) and the ACC really struggled this past week Wake is by far the best team. Impressive blowout for USC at Virginia. Ohio State should worry less about Wells and the Heisman and get him out when they are up by 30 over a bad team. Cal over Mich St is going to be a helpful win later in the season for Cal because I think Mich St will get better. Georgia may have been in shock when they lost their very good defensive player but they didn't look like a #1 to me. LSU has to play no one from here on out of the SEC and who really knows if App St is really any good. Arizona might be a surprise team and Utah and BYU each have a good shot at going undefeated. Lots of good games to go and Rutgers will have a very tough Fresno St team to play and the Louisville/Kentucky game is always interesting. Tennessee vs UCLA will give one team a big name win. Penn State rolled and I wish they were playing Oregon instead of Oregon St but who knows that when the schedules are made. I went to bed w/Mizzou beating Illinois by 20 and the score ended up close for some reason. I really hope Nebraska has a good year to challenge them in the North along w/Kansas.

Yeah, I was suprised to see the score. Northwestern will probably be pretty bad again this year, so to get blown out by them is extra-nasty.

after all the I-L-L posts, it's kinda nice to see them get humbled. not ready to eat at the big boys' table, apparently.

Yep, all of our grand predictions of undefeated seasons that went on. When's the last time Penn State did anything of value? Lemme guess, Michigan screwed us, the refs suck?

I hope I don't sound like a homer, but to me this game wasn't close. It was like going up 10-3 in a baseball game in the 6th and throwing in a crappy reliever.

I'm not getting the analogy. It's not like you guys pulled your starters. It's not like you were in the prevent, Juice was throwing over your secondary. It was pretty much a carbon copy of last year's game, and man am I pissed at the pants-wetting that our defense did.

What is Northwestern's team like? I am asking because Duke plays them next week

Lol Illinois fans needed humbled? Give me a God damn break. Has there been 1 person on here proclaiming NC? We were facing a rival team, whos ranked # 6 right now, how dare our fans be excited for the game. Not one person was on here guaranteeing a victory or nothing like that. The Big 10 and Illinois hate from some people here is beyond ridiculous, and the very reason why I wanted to start a seperate thread for the Illinois Mizzou game. This crap gets really old on this board regarding the Big 10 and Illinois, I really think we just need 1 thread dedicated to either the Big 10, or to the Illini, just so you dumbasses wouldnt have to read it.

Someone needs to call the Waaambulance.

As far as Illinois goes, I think every team on the schedule will still want/try to force Juice to throw the ball all game and contain the running game. Don't get me wrong he showed much improved touch last night and the numbers were huge, but good lord he had guys streaking WIDE open all night. They need to find a combination that can at least compare to Mendenhall.

Mizzou just needs to figure out what their problem was in the secondary. That offense is outstanding and if Maclin is healthy so are their ST.

Illinois is going to have to develop some kind of a running game to keep defenses honest. Juice can only do so much and opposing teams are certainly going to make the running game beat them rather than Juice through the air (not that it will necessarily work every week).

Why do they call him Juice, by the way? It's such a silly nickname. Juice is a nickname better suited for someone in the 80's.

Go ahead and kid yourself if you must, but StL is a dump, despite its occasional nice little neighborhoods. Clayton sucks, though it has nice places here and there. the CWE is cool; it's also surprisingly dangerous for an "upscale" neighborhood. (I worked in a restaurant there for three years.)

Illinois led for about 10 seconds the entirety of the game. Mizzou was up at least 2 scores for the entirety of the second half, and by as many as 25 points. It wasn't close.

Wait...Texas A&M lost at home last night...to Arkansas State? lol

I guess Mike Sherman forgot how to coach.

That implies he knew how to coach in the first place.

boy the acc sure powered up the failmobile, huh?

-virginia tech lost to east carolina

-n.c. state shut out by south carolina

-virginia completely embarrassed at home by usc

-maryland only beat delaware by a touchdown

-unc struggled to beat mcneese state

is it too early to declare the acc the worst bcs conference? maybe duke has a chance to win it.

And you forgot about Clemson losing to Alabama.

That was quite a fun time.

And I don't know if humbled is the right word, but Truffle's obviously referring to what Warp dubbed the "lame smack talk" earlier in the thread. Good thing Mizzou won. Again.

eh, we'll get you back in the annual hardwood drubbing.

when juice hit judson at the 20 yard line when we were down by ten, i'm sure there were some missourian hearts beating fast. you can't tell me you weren't thinking "not again".

we had a bad defensive game, and that will happen against missouri's offense. but, i think the score was about as accurate as it gets.

Pretty much what Sulley said. My issue is that NPC made it sound like the 10 point difference wasn't indicative of the game, and I think 10 points was just about right for the way the game was played.

illinois had a subpar rushing game last year against missouri, as well. they stacked the line and dared the illini qb's to throw on them. dufrene ran for more yards than mendenhall.

One of my biggest problems with the Mizzou secondary was how William Moore was used. Every time I looked, he was blitzing. He's our biggest INT threat and our best player in the secondary. We really should've kept him over the top to help out our CBs who couldn't stop getting burned.
