Dear Cubs,

Last night was, on an extremely personal level, the greatest and most intense win of the season for me thus far. Please keep it up. Destroy those dirty fish!

I'd like to see Cedeno start at SS today unless Johnsons left handed than I want him at second.

Johnson's right handed, and that's a good idea. Give Cedeno a chance to roll over his success from yesterday, and get Theriot a rest against a RHP. He's started 20 of 21 games since coming back from that little problem that kept him out of the first two games at the Cell. He's 0 for his last 8 so he's not a hot bat to keep in the lineup either.

Dang! 1 day away from the 2nd straight Harden/Johnson matchup, preceeding the matchup of Harden/Bush next week.

This game is going to be tough. Josh Johnson is a good young pitcher. He won't throw more than 90 or so pitches, so obviously patience is a virtue Cubs need to have. Demp needs to be on. Keep Hanley in his slump. Get Cantu out for a change. Keep the ball in the park. I expect a close low-scoring game.

Is Edmonds OK to start today?

Apparently not.

Cubs lineup

Soriano

Theriot

Lee

Ramirez

Fukudome

Soto

Fontenot

Johnson

Dempster

And for the Marlins

Ramirez

Gonzalez

Cantu

Jacobs

Uggla

Willingham

Ross

Hoover

Johnson

Nice to see DeRosa get a day off. He has bounced around enough lately that it's easy to forget that he's started a bunch of games in a row.

Johnson hits 5th against a LHP, gets an XBH, then goes down to 8th against a RHP. Lou gets it.

By "it" you mean just that Johnson can't hit RHP well? Cuz Lou still has bullpen management issues.

Seriously, I think we take this for granted. How many botched platoons did Dusty operate? Dusty was the guy who would let Trinidad Hubbard bat 3rd just because he was replacing Sammy Sosa in the lineup.

I agree and I think he's done a pretty good job but he ignored my Cedeno idea! I like to play subs a couple of games in a row to get them into a groove and as you said, keep that success going while giving Theriot a much need rest.

He may at times but we don't know if a guy is hurting and can't go in so what Lou does may seem odd but there may be an outside reason why.

Samardzija is talking a mile a minute on the leadoff man... He's obviously excited as hell.
