Didn't see a thread elsewhere. Looks like he'll be playing tonight. Per Rotoworld:

Alfonso Soriano (hand) is scheduled to come off the disabled list Wednesday.

Soriano has been out since breaking his hand on June 11. He's gone 1-for-5 with a walk in two minor league rehab games, but the Cubs moved him return timetable up one day anyway. He'll resume starting in left field, likely pushing Mark DeRosa back into the mix at second base.

Weird....activated exactly 6 weeks to the day. This is one estimate the Cubs doctors got exactly right.

A much needed boost. I wonder how long it'll take him to get into the swing of things?

Historically, not long.

Was it his wrist or arm that was broken?

It was his hand

That's very creepy.

Glad to have him back finally!

I thought it was a broken finger? I could be remembering wrong, though.

It was one of his metacarpal bones, which is kinda between the hand and the finger. It's basically the connector right around the knuckle.

IIRC it was one of the bones in the hand that the finger connects to. Yes, I know that's an incredibly medical statement.

I just remember his injury sounded very much like something similar I had as a teen. I also broke the same wrist like a year afterwards -- the wrist injury was *much* more intense and required much more rehab for me.

Put the Maxim mag away next time and it won't hurt as much.

Yeah, I'd rather have it be a broken finger over a wrist anytime.

Thanks daske and Soul. I thought it was something in the finger, but didn't realize it was the bone connecting the finger to the hand.

I guess we're all somewhat right here. :D

I'd rather read a Maxim magazine than have a broken bone. Wouldn't you?

OMGZ SO BUSTED!

I hope that his DL stint is the reason for the Cubs offensive struggles. He's been gone for 6 weeks and we still hold the lead. If he can spark the Cubs offense again, that would be great for the second half of the season. Edited by bcl412

Wow...that is a long time. That's like a whole season.

If it gets us turned around, fine... but at the same time, to think one man can mean so much to a team/season.

Good thing it was just 6 weeks and not a season-ending injury!

One man probably doesn't mean a whole lot in baseball, but think if Soriano was in one of his hot streaks where he hits home runs in what seems like ever at bat. We probably would have won two more games to start out the second half.
