Its just sad to know you have a reliever on a ("on paper") bonafied WS contender who you can't trust with a 7-run lead. Sure he only gave up 3, but if Lou was stupid enough to leave him in there, we'd all have been doing this - :beg: for more Cubs' runs - in the 9th inning of Thursday night's game in the ATL.

Why he wasn't DFA'd 2-3 weeks ago, if not alot sooner, is beyond me.

Since July 13 Howry has a 9.81 ERA. There's no time it's safe to use him.

When you're already losing 12-3 in the 8th seems pretty safe.

He'll kill our run differential!

If Lou had to get him in a game, that was a good game to get him in. He gave up three runs, and left with a 4 run lead still intact. I still want him DFAd, but I'm happy to see Lou get him work in a blowout instead of a close game like he had been. Let's hope that's what he's thinking anyways and that wasn't based on the fact that we had three blowouts in a row.

Okay, we can relegate him BP pitcher.

When he struck out Jones, I was almost fooled that he could get out of the inning. I was in the car so I didn't see it. But then the usual BS started. What more does Lou need to see with this guy?

I'm not even going to bother reading this whole thing and just say no.

I've been a Howry supporter going back to last year when he had the rough start and recovered well (4.68 ERA before the break and 1.85 after). I even was backing him at the beginning of this year, hoping that he would turn it around like he did in 2007. But this has gone well beyond last year.

I am completely out of guesses as to why he keeps getting put in, in a tie game, no less. I am sure the other team is licking its chops when they see him out there.

I missed most of the game last night, but I just looked at the box score and chuckled. 5 batters faced by Howry, 5 men reached base, 4 scored. What part of "Howry is a horrible pitcher" does Lou not understand?

I'm usually more of a Lou defender than a critic, but letting him keep pitching after walking the bases loaded, that was the no-brainer time to take him out.

Walks the guy trying to give him an out with a sac bunt and throws a meatball down the middle to a horrible hitter like Quintero. If Wuertz pitched that inning, Lou woulda sent him back to Iowa for the playoff push.

To answer the original question posed in the thread...this guy does:
