I'm pumped about this. Hopefully, it will be better than ESPN.

But, but, but, ESPN is the self-proclaimed "worldwide leader of sports."

I really wish they can refrain from hiring anyone with ESPN ties. A fresh cast of hosts, reporters, ex-players, GMs and "experts" but that's a tall order.

As for job openings, I'll take the job of keeping Joe Morgan from entering the premises.

Karl Ravech can jump ship... that's about all I'd be in favor of though.

I think I recall seeing a major league baseball softball exhibition in that park with Jenny Finch striking out just about anyone who faced her. I also remember a Scott Podsednik home run in that game. It was only memorable because he doesn't hit home runs very often.

Wonder what the MLB network will show during the offseason. Baseball doesn't have cheerleaders.

I'd settle for Hot Stove and prospects. Maybe some Winter league action. Knowing MLB they won't have anything interesting. For example, I'm almost positive they won't have Nate Silver on talking abut quantitative analysis.

I'm hoping that this means the return of Harold Reynolds to TV. Baseball Tonight really started to go in the crapper after he got fired, and Gammons had his health problems.

I'm pretty excited about all these competing cable networks with ESPN though. Hopefully the new network can see beyond the AL East.

Harold Reynolds worked the All Star selection show for TBS. My guess is that he will sign on with them.

Does anyone happen to know where one would look to find jobs working for the MLB Network? MLB.com does not have any information regarding jobs for the network

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/jobs.jsp?c_id=mlb would be a place to start.

I can only hope this channel is more robust than the current baseballchannel.tv that mlb.com puts on. That said, Reynolds has been working for them this year, so far, so would guess they will be trying to build a supporting cast around that.

I'd love to see them pick up video of minor league games that they're already streaming online. While it might be unlikely that I'd go to milb.com to catch a few innings, it'd be more likely if such a thing proceeded their nightly wrap-up show...that said, it'd be really nice to do some sort of weekly minors show, the way XM does on Saturday AM with "MInors & Majors"

I just want to be sure that I get it in HD...

Yeah, I checked there already but they only have stuff for mlb.com

I assume they'll eventually launch its own website and they'll have job listings on there. Hope it comes sooner than later though

I'm sure they'll find a way to show World Series of Poker.

I'm sure Directv will have the channel, probably right at launch. So I'm a happy camper.

But I think before last season with all the hubbub about an exclusive EI deal the cable companies promised to carry the MLB Channel in exchange for getting to air EI.

If that's the case, it will be pretty wide exposure for a new channel.

Matt Vasgersian is moving to the MLB network.

This guy is a walking baseball encyclopedia.

I remember there was quite a bit of talk about him becoming the next Cubs' announcer before the job went to Len.

The Padres wouldn't let him out of his contract to take the Cubs opening.

I'm sure most know who Vasgersian is at this point. He's done Olympic baseball and softball as well as a few Saturday FOX baseball games, as well as WSOP.

I've heard him do a lot of Padres baseball over the years, and I think he'll be pretty good for the MLB Network.

When I worked in Minor Leage baseball back in the early 90's, I didn't hire Vasgersian for a job with the Reno Silver Sox. His audition tape was very good, but I went with someone from my alma mater instead.

The guy I hired is now a high school baseball coach and Vasgersian continues to excell at the highest level. I'd like to have a mulligan on that one.

Isn't he also the guy who used to broadcast wrestling matches? And he broadcasts NFL games too (I think including some of the Bears' games this year).

I'm fired up. They could televise MiLB games, winter league games, cape cod league games, AFL games. It's a baseball fan's dream. Hopefully they don't go into ESPN squeeze every game except the Red Sox and Yankees into three second chops mode for their highlight show.

I suppose one would actually have to watch wrestling to know who announces wrestling matches.
