Cubs - Cards - Brewers have the best W-L record in the NL

Cubs would have a 4 game lead in the East and a 9 game lead in the West

Are these 3 really the best the NL has to offer? (I know the Cubs are)

Go Cubs

it's gonna suck mightily to be the third of the three this year knowing that you are still a better team than 12 others and still aren't going to go to the show.

brewers are for real and i think they'll get the WC with an outside shot at the division. cards should not have enough to hang in the race.

If Ben Sheets stays healthy, him and CC should put the Brewers in the playoffs. If he doesn't, and the Cards pick up a reliever at the trade deadline, then I think the Cards will edge them out. That's two big ifs though that St L needs, in my estimation.

I think there's a good chance that the Cardinals will not have one of the three best records by the end of the year.

I think there's a good chance of that, as well.

How many times do Tony LaRussa teams have to overachieve before we accept it as reality?

I ask in all seriousness because its something I need to figure out myself. When do I let myself believe and when do you guys start to worry?

The Cards are 28-28 the last two months. I think LaRussa may be capable of keeping them from collapsing, but my guess is they'll continue to fade.

I do believe that this TLR team will overachieve. But I had them as a ~77 win team.

and they're even with the brewers right now, who have been going a lot better than the cards lately, and just made a significant move to improve their team. i also see the phillies as a better team by a pretty good margin, lousy manager aside.

I know it's been said before, but I think the Cardinals will fade away by the end of the year. The best records in the NL by season's end IMO will be:

1. Cubs (92-70)

2. Brewers (90-72)

3. Phillies (88-74)

4. D-Backs (86-76)

5. Cardinals (83-79)

I agree. On paper I had them as a collapsing team this preseason, it's hard to view .500 as a failure for this team on paper, let alone with all the injuries.

Especially when Arizona and LA are duking it out for the NL West while below .500.

Time will tell, but they've been horrible since the first month, and don't have alot of major injuries or anything like that to blame it on. They started 19-7, 12 games over .500. Since the hot start, they've gone 25-38, 13 games under (under .400). They need to improve considerably over what they did the last two months just to play .500 ball.

They are 21-10 against the West this year, and 41 of their last 73 games are against that putrid division. While I don't think it's a guarantee that they go over .500, it seems pretty likely.

Of course, I expect Colorado to get better as the season goes along which could cut into their wins, and I think the Dodgers are going to hang in there as well.
