    I hear "you have to be on a contenting team" qualifier way to often If Ryan Howard was my starting 1st baseman and I could trade him even up for Albert Pujols, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat Pujols has had a better 6 months of baseball no matter how hot Howard is for the last 5 weeks of the season If you have to be on a contending team to win the MVP, then Banks has 2 awards to return and Dawson 1 Go Cubs

    Big Papi put down a sac bunt in last night's Boston/Tampa Bay extra inning game (2nd in his career) There is a place for bunting in MLB, however .. ... .. it should be used only for pitchers, light hitting guys, etc - not sluggers When Soto squared up to bunt in the St L game I came up out of my chair yelling at Lou not to take the bat out of Geo's hands Go Cubs

    i don't get the joke **sarcasm off** As I am marveling at Aramis smoking HR after HR there was a sequence of 8 or 9 bombs off of RH pitchers and I was chuckling to myself "no need for the Reed/Jimmy platoon at third base"

    Zero stats to back this up but I believe Santo struck out more often them Rammy Thats one of the things I have always appreciated about Aramis, he has a power swing but hits so well with 2 strikes, makes contact

    Magic number is a simple calcuation and I have been keeping track for a while now - 31 and counting Go Cubs

    Been cheering for the Cubs since the 60's (Adolpho Phillips, Carmen Fanzone, etc.) - Best Cub team 1 - 25 that I have ever seen For a roster spot reserved exclusively for pinch hitting we do need an upgrade for Ward - Lee and Fukudome have tailed off - Howry continues to stumble . ... .. No team is perfect but I like what I see If we stay injury free I'll take my chances with this team Go Cubs

    Coming into this series I would have been fine with a split. Both teams had their pitching set up well, on paper this game look like the most lopsided match-up. With the performances of Lilly, Z and Demster (who were outstanding) our pen is rested and ready. Rich, we need 5 or 6 strong innings and toss the keys to the pen. The burden is on the Cub bats to maintain and finally get Harden some well deserved run support Go Cubs

    Backdoor fastball, slider, forkball, sinker, curve, cut fastball, etc - what do each of these pitches do? I realize each pitcher may have his own version of each pitch but after seeing countless shots from the center field camera looking over the pitchers shoulder at the catcher I still have a hard time distinguishing what a given pitch is Brandon Webb's sinker looks the same to me as Ben Sheets 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock curve :confused: Any enlightenment would be appreciated
