Mac, Jurko, and Harry....and yep I still haven't heard any word on who is off the roster.

So why does Lou have a vendetta against Hoffpauir again? Oh yeah, because he didnt come through vs. Percival.

Also, he's not as good at hitting as Patterson or Lee, so he has no place to play.

uh didn't you hear? he's one of the NL Central's young wunderkinds!

This Edmonds batting 5th thing better not be something that isn't changeable, because I would hate to see himi hitting 5th in September and completely blowing

Tough game tonight. This is the game that I think will be similar to the first game of the Sox series. Meaning, if the Cubs can win tonight, they will have a good shot at a series sweep.

Guthrie has quietly been one of the better pitchers in the AL for the last couple years. Only 3-7 this year, but the O's have scored 2 runs or less in 1/2 of his starts. He leads the AL in Quality starts this year, with 12 in 16 starts and has a pretty solid .237 opp. batting average. Guthrie does however allow flyballs, and thus the longball. He has 135 GB outs vs. 134 in the air. He's given up 13 HRs, including at least one in all but 5 of his starts. If the wind is blowing out in Wrigley, he can be beat up a little. He allows the ball to be put in play a lot as he doesn't have many Ks. Doesn't really have any splits. Lefties have hit him a little better, but his BB rate and ISOP against are identical vs. batters from both sides of the plate. I'd like to see the same lineup Lou has run out there the last couple times (Patterson in LF, batting 2nd). If the longballs aren't working, Guthrie is susceptible to the stolen base. He's also a guy that takes a little bit to settle down in the game, so you can score on him early. Similar to Vasquez, if the Cubs can scratch out a couple in the 1st against him, they can tack on a couple more the 3rd time thru the order.

The O's have decent numbers vs. LHPs. But Marshall should have the luxury of facing their lineup without 2 of its best players. Huff likely won't play with NL rules and no DH tonight. Luke Scott will likely sit in favor of the much lesser Jay Payton. They key will be getting the top of the order out. Though, Roberts, Mora, and Markakis have killed LHPs.

I really enjoy these posts you've been making in game threads lately.

If Edmonds isn't hitting come September he won't be batting 5th if even playing. Lou doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is going to stick with someone forever who is struggling just because they are a Vet unless it is Soriano, Aramis, or D Lee. And they all rightfully deserve that kind of treatment.

Baltimore Lineup Tonight

1. 2B- Brian Roberts .290/.372/.469 5 HR, 29 RBIs, 44 Runs, 21 SBs

2. RF- Nick Markakis .283/.387/.483 12 HR, 33 RBIs, 41 Runs, 8 SBs

3. 3B- Melvin Mora .240/.299/.412 10 HR, 38 RBIs, 35 Runs

4. 1B- Kevin Millar .245/.339/.411 11 HR, 41 RBIs, 38 Runs

5. C- Ramon Hernandez .238/.282/.371 5 HR, 26 RBIs, 18 Runs

6. LF- Luke Scott .268/.352/.502 12 HR, 28 RBIs, 31 Runs

7. CF- Adam Jones .265/.308/.385 4 HR, 27 RBIs, 26 Runs, 6 SBs

8. SS- Alex Cintron .326/.356/.419 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 2 Runs

9. P- Jeremy Guhtrie 0-7 Career

I love playing these AL teams at home, because it takes away one of their best hitters like Thome with Chicago and Aubrey Huff tonight. One thing that is funny is in Cintron's picture he is wearing a Cubs hat.

another decision between standard def Len/Bob and hi-def MASN.

WGN America (or whatever it's called) needs to jump on the national HD bandwagon (as does Headline News, Comedy Central, The Travel Channel, E!, etc., etc.)

A million times YES, I completely agree that WGN-HD needs to be brought into the DirecTV-HD fold.
