Arizona is expected to make their announcement in the next 24-48 hours. It sounds like it might be Few.

Calipari is not Nick Saban. That's just silly.

The only difference between Calipari and Saban, is that Cal smiles for the camera and the media loves him. People do not like Saban, not because he isn't a good coach (easily Top 5 coach in college football), but because he comes off as a moody mercenary who doesn't butt kiss to media. Which in turn the media will portray Nick as a moody, surly, villianous personaility, and everybody (a lot of people of this board) seem to have bought into perception of Saban. I said it from the beginning, that if people are not going to take potshots at CJC for taking the money and running to Kentucky, then people have to stop taking potshots at Saban.

Otherwise....Coach John Calipari is the college basketball version of Nick Saban. Believing otherwise is laughable.

Calipari's head coaching jobs

UMass (8 seasons)

Nets (3 seasons)

Memphis (9 seasons)

Saban's head coaching jobs

Toledo (1 season)

Michigan State (5 seasons)

And by Few, I apparently meant Jeff Capel.

John Calipari took less money to go to Kentucky. He told the Memphis media today that the U of M would've given him whatever he wanted to stay. Hell, Fred Smith made a visit to his house Sunday night. This wasn't about the money. It was about taking his dream job.

Hahahaha

The Memphis AD also said they were prepared to match any offer Kentucky came up with. Money is not an issue for Memphis basketball. There's some very deep pockets with high interest in the program. As you'll see with the amount of money they have to throw at the next coach(Rick Pitino).

Bold prediction.

the next coach(Rick Pitino).

Hahahaha

The Memphis paper is reporting that Memphis may be willing to put a succession clause in Pitino's contract saying his son will take over after he retires. Plus they'll make him the highest paid coach in college basketball.

Maybe not. But I guarantee he'll listen. And money is always an object.

Wow. Rick Pitino. Memphis just isn't that kind of program. And to think I was just about ready to hand RedFlash the award for most delusional fan.
