Amazingly, Penn State is still alive to finish as high as 2nd place in the Big Ten.

It would require PSU to beat Illinois and Iowa and for Purdue to lose to NU and MSU. Not so crazy a scenario....

pomeroy gives northwestern only an 11% chance of winning at purdue.

they gave PSU a similar % to win at MSU.

at any rate, if PSU wins out, they'll be in 3rd place (as they'd hold the tie-breaker over Illinois).

Purdue has only lost three times at home this year (Oklahoma in OT, Duke, and Illinois in OT). Meanwhile, Northwestern's road performances have been all over the place, from winning @ Michigan State to blowing big leads to not even showing up.

Unless we can effectively mix the 1-3-1 to force turnovers with a 2-3 or hybrid defense to limit outside shots, we won't have much of a chance. Last time, we forced 22 turnovers and held Purdue to 6 of 16 from the outside. That'll be hard to replicate.

Of course, they outrebounded us 41-22 and dominated the inside on both sides.

Purdue lost to OU in NYC.

Well that doesn't help.

Craig Moore will have to on this evening, but he has been so inconsistent as of late. Over his last 8 games, he has made 5+ 3 pointers 4 different times and 2 or fewer the other 4 times, including going 2 for 11 on Saturday.

purdue has scored 3 points since i got out of my car like 35 minutes ago.

the big ten doesn't stand a chance in the tournament. purdue looks terrible on a fairly regular basis... illinois held to 33 at home... purdue dominates michigan state by 19... really... i don't think anyone in the big ten would be in the top 3-4 in the acc or big east...

except the Big 10 actually plays defense. Get Duke or North Carolina away from the ACC refs and see how far their flopping gets them

the tourney is called more like the big east or acc than the big ten

Smack is right though. The Big Ten is middle heavy and that is a terrible recipe for the NCAA tournament. MSU is the only team with a chance of winning more than 2 games. OSU, Minnesota, Penn State, and Wisconsin are all toast, and PU/Ill are as likely to get knocked out in the first round as make the sweet sixteen.

The Big East is called closer to the Big Ten than most Big Ten fans want to admit.

Yeah I've never heard anyone say the Big East is called like the ACC.

Meanwhile Purdue is choking a 4 seed away down the stretch.

and a loss at MSU sunday probably moves them to a 7 or 8 seed... which they probably don't deserve...

This is utter [expletive]. Look at what these teams did in their nonconference.

which is why I only mentioned the ACC ;)

But yeah, we're toast.

I'm really starting to hate Purdue basketball. Their fans are just idiots. They boo every single friggin call like it was the worst call in history. Yet they apparently don't realize that they've made their living by mugging everyone on defense.

Kramer is just a clown. I love how all of his bad plays are excused because he was on the floor 3 times earlier. He's able to run around full speed and cut but when he chokes and misses free throws he acts like he was just shot and starts limping.

Hummel is turning into a total flopper also. That was a terrible call he got with 30 seconds left because he jumped into the defender on the rebound and then flailed his body.

Great win!

I can't believe we overcame all those mental mistakes down the stretch.

I only have one thing to say, though:
