WIS: @IU, @MSU, UM, @MIN, IU

Anyone care to predict those games out and see how it shakes out?

I think the Badgers go 3-2 to finish. I also think it'll be done in an absolutely stupid way, like the Badgers losing their next two and winning their last three.

Another tough loss for NU but I'm happy with the progress they've made this year. Their only big senior loss is Moore, and their freshmen are only going to get better. I've been happy with what I've seen from Shurna and Mirkovic over the last few games. Rowley is a much bigger project!

the big ten needs to do an investigation; i am sick and tired of illinois getting screwed by the refs every game. this has to stop!!!

Yawn.

It's a road game, Big Ten homering is brutal. Maybe they do things differently in the Patriot league, but you'd be hard pressed to find a Big Ten fan not agree that road teams get hosed. Find me the ref complaints on games in Champaign.

Last game you had a Kansas and Iowa fan laughing at the homering, and this game you had an IU fan jokingly say nice tackle to his own player.

Is anyone else amused by the irony of Truffle getting on someone for complaining about the refs?

Penn State got hosed!!

what has happened to this team?

Lack of depth once again. Why the hell won't K play Mason Plumlee?

Im not as upset with Plumlee as I am with some of the other players.

Elliot Williams is maybe our best perimeter defender and he cannot find his way onto the court. Nolan Smith has gotten benched which is a shame in my opinion. Greg Paulus is just an awful on-ball defender and it showed in the last two games. Lawson and Rice both lit Paulus up. Smith would not have given up so many points to both players. Also, we need some minutes from either Zoubek or Plumlee. I love Lance Thomas but he is not good enough to be our only center.

I do not think it is a coincidence that our skid started as Smith played less and Paulus played more.

If Purdue beats MSU at home there is a good chance the last game of the season determines champ. It can be Purdue one game back and win ties them in record with head to head tie breaker making them the champ, a MSU loss giving Illinois the championship, or MSU win gives them championship. There are a lot of possibilities and that game likely could determine which one of three teams is the champ.

Ho hum. Another game in Tempe, another crap charge call helps the home Sun Devils beat an LA school.

I love Tim Floyd meltdowns (the best is still the one in the Sweet 16 against UNC) but I can't blame him for losing it on this one.

I don't know about the rest of the IU fans, but I have really enjoyed watching this team this year. I didn't think I could or would. This team is absolutely horrible. The talent level may be on the bottom 5% of division 1 basketball, and clearly bottom 10 total in all of major conference basketball. I know it's cliche, but this team does not quit. They started 4 freshman and a senior who was a walk-on today. They only went 7 deep without Dumes, their leading scorer, including 6 freshman and 5 scholarship players.

I think with next year's class and the experience gained from this year's group will make this team a tourney team right away. Having an experienced big man like Pritchard next year will be huge. Having a couple experiened PGs with Jones III and Rivers will be great. Having Dumes as a senior and Roth playing with players that can create shots for him will be huge. Going from an 8 man rotation with 1 year of combined experience to a team with 9 years experience (1 for the 6 frosh and Dumes this year, and 2 for Rivers) along with a solid freshman class will be huge for this team.

I've enjoyed this season far more than I expected. It's still frustrating as hell to see all the horrible turnovers and free throw shooting, but I've been fairly pleased overall. It's been nice to see Dumes, Jones III and Roth improve as much as they have. Adding Rivers next year will be big of handling the ball and limiting turnovers to some extent.

I still think a .500 record and an NIT birth is at the high end of what to expect next year.

Very true and that will make things very entertaining. Also thank god Hummel is healthy for the MSU game....He didn't look super on offensively, but his rebounding and defense had been missing

So I forgot about this until reading back through this thread, but Greg Anthony is an idiot. IU wasn't playing a triangle and 2. They were man-to-man on 3 guys and the other 2 were playing a zone in the lane. The shot they showed where he made the triangle was stupid because as soon as they started moving, the guy in the bottom right went with his man up to the top of the key. Seriously, if you can't see that after playing basketball for 20+ years, you shouldn't be announcing.

And good lord was that game ugly the last 10 minutes. UI will be so much better off when they have a lineup of guards who can actually knock down a 20 footer with some regularity.

Ha yeah it was...I thought for a small small glimpse that Purdue might have a lead in the conference over you

speak up please, it's hard to hear you when you're way down there.

I understand why they're ranked where they are, but it just shows what a joke the polls are. I mean, Duke lost twice last week and they're still in the top 10. A win over one of the supposed "big boys" just caries a lot more weight than it should.

It also goes to show the lack of depth in the NCAA this year. There just aren't very many teams I would say are really good.

Illinois is about where they should be, but Mizzou is way too high, mostly because the B12 is just so weak this year outside of the top 4 teams. The B10 doesn't have a great team, but there are a lot of good, solid, young teams from top to bottom with the exception of IU and Iowa.

I tend to like Illinois' chances better in the tournament (depending on the draw of course) just because they have a little more consistent defense and Mizzou can be stopped if you put them into a half court game.

I agree, I don't think Mizzou is a top-10 team either, but what're you going to do. Considering I said at the beginning of the year I'd be happy with the NIT, I'm having a lot of fun with this so far.

Plus, it somewhat irks Illinois fans when we're ahead of them, so that's cool too ;)

Illinois up to 16 on the coaches poll and Mizzou inexplicably at 10!

As a Mizzou student I say that 12 or 13 is more reasonable for Mizzou, but I wouldn't say that 10 is inexplicable.

Posted

Mizzou is ranked 8th by Pomeroy and 14th in the RPI(with a SOS of 46, Illinois is 40 to compare). 10/11 doesn't seem too out of place by human poll standards.

With regards to slowing the game down, Mizzou's last 4 games have all been under 75 possessions, with only the Kansas game breaking 70. In that span they've won the two toughest games they've had this year(Kansas at home, Texas on the road), led every second of a 14 point win at Iowa State, and blew out Nebraska by 23 at home. Mizzou is 9-3 when the game is played at 70 or fewer possessions with an average margin of +11.5, with wins against Kansas, Texas, and USC.
