I hate Greg Paulus, Mike Patrick, Dick Vitale, and Kyle Singler.

Shout out to Gatorade for giving its national player of the year to Greg Paulus his senior year. He definately should have won it over Dwight Howard. It was a good piece of scouting to know how just how good Paulus would become.

didn't nick smith win that award or something?

Na he would have until they found out he did some nude photos of himself on a ten speed while eating an ice cream cone. He was immediately stripped of that title.

I'm getting tired of watching Michigan lose game after game because all they can do is shoot 3's. Bastards.

actually that's kind of the problem, they can't shoot threes but they continue to attempt to do so.

what do florida and pittsburgh have in common?

they weren't ranked number 1 when they left freedom hall the last time they visited. duke lost and uconn is number 2...

we still haven't played our A game yet and are now 7-0 in the beast that is the big east. don't think that the best basketball fans are on tobacco road. tonight 17,500 people, a few hundred short of an official sellout, went out in 5 inch snow and icy conditions to watch your seventh ranked university of louisville fighting cardinals pound south florida by 26, a team that has beaten us 2 or 3 times in 20 or so years. and keep in mind, this is kentucky. people freak out if snow flurries start falling with no accumulation.

so to that poster a few pages back, yeah louisville. seriously. no team is playing better than we are right now.

there have been two great days in recent history. one was the day that tom jurich announced the hiring of rick pitino. the second was the day that orlando tubby smith announced he was leaving yUK. put in perspective, if rick left tomorrow, tubby would be welcomed here with open arms. what tubby did in 10 years in lessington was an awesome job and we would have been happy with that.

kentucky fan right now is kicking himself for running off tubby. billy clyde gillespe isn't long for that job. has he finally signed that contract yet?

Georgetown loses again, making ND's only even semi-quality win since November even less so.

Cuse loses to Providence 100-94.

ND's next win will be Feb. 15 against South Florida. Pitt, Cincy, UCLA, and Louisville will defeat us in the interim.

that is one bear of a stretch. nationally-ranked g'town, then a relatively easy one with seton hall, but then four more ranked teams followed by 3 ranked teams and a road game against cincy. oh well, that's the big east this year (plus a random roadie against ucla)

Yeah, this conference has been ridiculous ever since the mega-expansion, but this year is absolutely absurd. Ironically, I'd bet anything that most of the league's tourney teams will just totally be out of gas by the end of the year and make early exits in the tournament, leading to a slew of "the Big East was overrated" talk.

Well, at least IU has been very competitive in 5 of their first 7 Big 10 games. They just make way too many mistakes to usually be able to finish the deal.

Looking at their schedule though, I only see 3-5 more chances for them. But even if they do go 0-18, it won't be without putting a serious scare into half the teams in the league.

Not being able to get a final shot off tonight was painful. But yes, they have competed pretty well in most of the games and that is more than I really expected.

I remember when Iowa and Missouri played each other 5 or 6 years in a row. Those games were supposed to be a big deal at the time as both programs were considered "up and coming". Yay Steve Alford and Quin Snyder.

Sorry for that random comment. The 2001-02 Iowa basketball season still gives me nightmares on occasion.

I don't think Indiana is going winless. They'll get someone at home. It will be Iowa, Northwestern or Wisconsin.

I may be certifiably insane but I watched the entire 2nd half of the Northwestern/IU game and it was strangely entertaining. Crazy amount of turnovers but they both shot really well. Always funny to hear the clearly audible airball chants toward a Northwestern player at home.

What a horrible foul by Dumes at the end. What's the over/under on "pepperpot" references to Moore if Lavin ever does an IU game?

Yay DePaul only lost by 22 tonight. What a dead atmosphere at Allstate tonight. Nice Fire Wainright chant though.

ESPN Bottom Line had a blurb tonight that said DePaul's AD gave Wainwright a vote of confidence for 09-10.

That is sometimes a good sign right?

I was pretty sure that his contract runs out after this year though...

Something not mentioned yet is Marquette is dominating even with losing Crean. Crean put that team together but I always wonder when I team is able to just keep on dominating when a big name coach leaves just how good that coach really was.

Yeah but the real question is will it last? I'd say let's see how Marquette is doing 2-3 years from now. From what I've read and heard, Crean is a very demanding coach and probably some of those kids are feeling a bit liberated at the moment.......relatively speaking......heck when RMK left Indiana we saw those kids loosen up and play well for Mike Davis but it didn't last. Not that it is a great comparison but.....I tend to think about when Matt Doherty took over UNC. UNC had a really strong year under Doherty in his first season there and it seemed like they would not miss a beat. But then that situation proceeded to go to hell in handbasket very quickly after Year 1.
