WTF Penn State? With 30 seconds left they have a breakaway, uncontested dunk but pulled it out to kill 5 seconds. He then misses the front of a one and one.

Then at the end they inbound the ball to Cornley who is a 56% free throw shooter. He misses both and GT had a chance to win with a 3.

yep. you almost saw one of those rare times where fouling every possession actually works in the final minute

well it doesn't help to just keep giving tech a free quick dunk every time down the court.

i was feeling slightly more optimistic about our chances against UNC after last night.

but yea, we have no shot.

at least that would be a game worth watching

Craig Brackins needs to play like he did tonight more often. 32 points and 16 boards in an OT road win vs Northern Iowa. UNI isn't exactly a great team, but I'm just happy to see ISU can win when the 3's aren't falling. Heck, I'm just happy they can win a road game considering Oregon State (in OT) was their only road win last year.

Well at least it was closer this year. With Northwestern winning it will end up 6-5.

Illinois and Iowa both had a chance to win on their last possession. Either one of them would have done it, although the ACC lost a couple close games also.

Man, I love this Tar Heel team. Ty Lawson = awesome.

Also, Northwestern won a game. Which is good, but I'm not really used to it.

This early in the season, UNC is going to be leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else. They have virtually a full roster returning, and they're used to running that system.

As the season progresses, a lot of these younger teams will catch up and be able to present a much stiffer challenge. I think, much like last year, if you get a team that plays D and has an athletic front court, UNC can be handled. I don't know how many teams have that formula, though.

I just saw the Jimmy V speech on ESPN for the first time and I almost cried.

I've seen the speech a bunch of times but each time it's on I can't help but watch the whole thing.

And as IMB referenced, the Green Bay Packers part of the speech is outstanding.

Oh, and UC Davis is not good at basketball.

holy cross lost to safety school yale... that's 6 losses in a row for us after a good win over st. joe's. we suck.

don't look at the Women's Holy Cross score....

Purdue loss hurts a bit more now that we are a home team that lost in the Challenge decided by one game.

It does...If we would have just shot a halfway decent which we didn't at all we would have had a shot. It was an 8 point game at half time and we had a stretch of not scoring for 8min. Ugh....Seriously one of the worst shooting games I've ever seen and not just from Purdue, I'm saying basketball in general. Nothing against Duke though they are better than I thought and a very good team.

Penn State's schedule shows that they should be 12-1 or 11-2 at the start of the Big Ten schedule. Can they go 8-8 in conference? Would 19 or 20 wins get them into the Dance?

Probably...just get a few big wins on the road and you'll have a good shot

It's going to be close. We are kinda in the same boat. We should be 11-2 or 12-1. Obviously we have to win all of those games first, but we should. That would put us in the same spot. Should be interesting. Wish we would have got that Clemson game. Would have been huge for the conference.

You usually want to win a big game out of conference, Win a big game on the road either in conference or out, and win about 18-21 games. Purdue will probably be in the same boat going into conference. Now however we should have a much better record in conference and hopefully win our next big game vs. Davidson

First off, the Big Ten plays 18 conference games. Secondly, unless you have a bear of a non-conference(Michigan), it's gonna take at least 22 wins to make it from the Big Ten this year.

That's what I'm saying I dont know how the rest of there no conference looks...So winning last night was pretty big beating an ACC team on a neutral court will look good for your resume.

right, so 9-9 would put them at 21 or 22 wins with an ACC road victory. Their B10 schedule isn't easy (they have to play Purdue and Mich St. twice) so 9-9 is probably a stretch anyways.

If anything, the BT/ACC challenge this year shows how deep the Big Ten really is, except for IU. Also, the Big Ten has no really great teams, just a lot of decent to good teams. Purdue and MSU are likely better than they played (although MSU has looked bad twice already this year), but it should be an interesting year in conference with 10 competitive teams.

I agree. Michigan State has been pretty bad although they are playing without Suton which is kind of big. Purdue lost two games though to two very good teams. I agree though U of I has impressed me so far along with Penn State. I thought Wisconsin would be decent along with Ohio State. Even Northwestern is looking decent, but My god IU is bad.
