I played Torrey Pines about 12 years ago and shot low 80s. However, that was from the whites and the rough was about 6 inches lower.

i don't mean to call bull but wouldn't one remember a score they shot at a us open course? rather than just say low 80's?

It wasn't a US Open course then.

I played Torrey Pines two years ago, when I knew the Open was coming, and I couldn't tell you what it was. Probably about 95-98.

I played in a best ball scramble the next day and we got a 67.

I really like the 3 hour difference having the open on the west coast. I prefer US Opens to kick the guys asses but i wont complain to much about Torrey. 3 guys game who i like are about out. Retief, Jesper and Padraig.

Torrey Pines is a public course.

I golfed at Sea 'n Air yesterday, which is a beautiful course on the military base on Coronado Island. For the record, Tiger and I were tied after the first hole, since I also double bogeyed 1.

I didn't delete enough stuff off my DVR and didn't get all the coverage, but I guess I got enough. Now I wish I had recorded the Cub game to see the vintage replica uniforms.

I would LOVE to play Torrey Pines. The only course I've played on that the pros have played on is Bethpage Black.

Also, seeing Tiger's grimace after that one shot he roped down the middle and then afterwards saying his knee hurt, I really don't see him physically staying at the top of the leaderboard through Sunday.

Like jersey said, it wasn't a US Open course then, although they did play the Buick Invitational there at the time, as they do now. And, it was 12 years ago. And, the rough was about 6 inches lower.

Hahahhah oh my god. That chip in on 17 for birdie was ridiculous. My god.

It was ridiculous. Even when he mishits it badly and is very upset at himself the ball still is almost like a magnet that is attracted to the hole. I was rolling my eyes and chuckling and saying that he's already the best player in the world and if he gets that kind of luck to go along with it, it will be hard for everyone else.

that was insane. he really is MJ in golf clothes

He might be better at his sport than MJ was when it is all said and done. For Michael, he had teammakes to pass to. For Tiger, it is him vs. every other guy out there.

I don't think Tiger wins, but I wouldn't be shocked if he did.
I think he wins (really going out on a limb, predicting him to win a major when he's leading going into the final round).

No, he isn't. I think the better comparison would be to Shaq. THE most dominant player in the game, but with a huge hole in his game. Shaq's was the free throw line, Tiger's is apparently the tee box. Very erratic (seriously, no way he's hit 50% of his fairways), but still the best player out there... by a large margin.

Tiger is the personification of the old saying "drive for show, putt for dough."

But, my Lord, if he ever puts together a tourney where he hits 80% of his fairways, he laps the field again.
