This is the part that will lengthen the amount of time Sori is out:

stretching and strengthening of the injured and weakened joint and surrounding muscles (due to the immobilization and the injury) are necessary

To elaborate on what I'd like to see:

Fontenot v. RHP

2008: .253/.352/.418/.769

Career: .281/.358/.418/.776

Murton v. LHP

2008 (AAA): .396/.482/.500/.982

Career: .317/.391/.497/.888

Combined I think you could see an .800 OPS with a .370 OBP. Now that I look at it Soriano has hit for more power than I thought, but I think Fontenot is a better bet than Hoffpauir to produce nearly everyday for 6+ weeks.

Edmonds should get center full time as long as hes playing well, and Johnson and Hoff should platoon left.

nah, free Matt Murton

Derwood, we agree!!! I guess that psycho preacher that said the world would end tomorrow was right.

Im shocked that nobodys suggested trading for Brian Roberts and moving DeRosa to left. Absolutely shocked.

We're just proposing that Murton plays tomorrow. . . . so the league can approve the Roberts deal, that just so happens to be a done deal.

What would we have to give up to get Roberts at this point? Baltimores at .500, but still in dead last. Roberts is playing better now. Hill, Ceda, Cedeno, and Murton? Too much? too little? Would they demand Pie, or at least Colvin?

we don't need a 2B, we need an OF. Moving our really good 2B to LF to accommodate a less good 2B isn't solving much

the Cubs went 9-5 while scoring 7.2 runs/game last time Soriano was out. I think sticking Murton/Hauffpauir in LF and moving Kosuke up in the order will be just fine

How's Pie been doing down in Iowa? They could call him up, and shift the Edmonds/Johnson platoon over to LF.

Edit: Nevermind, I see that he's been absolutely awful. What a shame.

Time to see what Haufpauir can do (although Dunn would be a nice addition). If Micah can't hack it, let Murton, DeRo, etc. give it a shot.

Hopefully Soriano can recover quickly. Who does Lou throw in the leadoff spot now? I'm guessing Theriot.

The question is will Lou do that, or will he try the Reed Johnson leaoff experiment again?

oh my god you guys

are you seriously...seriously...considering dumping our prospects (prospects that should be used to net us a indians or bluejays starter at the deadline) because soriano is going to be out a couple of months?!?!?

seriously?

the only way we need to make a trade for an offensive player would be if someone else gets injured...that hasn't happened yet and i doubt that it will...

why isn't anyone suggesting we call up pie? micah was already getting called up before sori went down...pie gives us lots of flexibility in the outfield...

i really think we will be ok guys, as long as no one else gets injured...

Pretty much where he left off.

I'm a fan of the Murtenot platoon.

same here. transmogrified tiger for manager (at least of this situation)

injuries happen... no need to run out and sign bonds or make a trade for an established hitter. the cubs have a lot of depth, not enough that the offense won't take somewhat of a hit, but enough to keep the offense among the top third in the game.

Call up Hoffpauir. He's coming up anyway.
