Are we gonna do this every time any pitcher gets into any trouble in the 7th inning or later? Seriously?

We will have no bullpen at the end of the season. None at all. How does Kevin Hart in a high-leverage situation in the NLDS sound?

He pitched in it last year.

And look what happened for the series.

Forget another starter, we need a shutdown reliever at the deadline. That, or teach Marmol to throw left-handed.

would you prefer to stick with a pitcher who is falling behind 2-0 on every hitter? it's a high leverage situation, exactly where you're supposed to use your best relief pitcher.

The Cubs are a good team who are going to win a lot of games. There's going to be a *lot* of high-leverage situations between now and the end of the year.

If we don't let the starters pitch through them occasionally, we'll end up with Marmol on pace for 85 appearances before the playoffs even start.

Oh wait, that's what we have.

If Lou didn't put Marmol in a bunch of 4-5 run games earlier this year for multiple innings we wouldn't be in this mess nearly as much.

I know, I was just kidding around.

I understand the fears about Marmol, but Lou has mentioned several times that he is aware of it and they are monitoring it. I think it gets a little too much worry around here, everytime he comes in sesveral comments are made.

But he did. And he'll continue to. Marmol was on pace for more than 100 innings going into tonight, and no indication that any slowdown in usage is planned anytime soon.

Gah

come on guys give Marmol a little rest

He only threw 3 pitches. It would probably benefit him more if he could get right back out there asap.

I partially agree with you about having Marmol in every high leverage situation, but if you haven't noticed, we aren't exactly running away with a playoff spot.

Now would be a good time to PH with Edmonds, imo.

Platoon splits only matter when the manager is making out the lineup card.

I'm willing to make an exception when it comes to certain PH situations. Reed Johnson has been abysmal against RHPs.

lol, BIlly Williams has no idea what he is talking about.

That was a crazy flyout though. It did pretty much leave the ballpark. How many times have you seen a ball do that?

How many runs do we need to let Marmol not pitch the 8th? more than 1?

I honest to God don't believe there is any amount of runs they could score that would make Lou not use Marmol since he's already set to go for the next inning.
