Can't even hold a six run lead to save their lives....

What a disgrace....

Calm down, buddy. This team is anything but a disgrace and we both know it.

I'm not calling the whole team a disgrace. Just pretty much the pen/players who can't hold a six run lead, that's all.

Okay good. With everyone and their whole "same old Cubs" thing, I figured you were thinking (or I guess not thinking) the same way as them. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, Hart sucked that inning up.

Good job getting out of it, Howry.

First: I'm glad Good Bobby Howry is back. He is so much better thenhis evil twin, "Bad Bob."

Second: Can we please get those runs back in the ninth, and kill the Padres hope once and for all?

Fangraphs trying to remind me that these late-inning hiccups aren't as scary as they seem, but I'm not buying it.

This team is genuinely good, and beating up crappy opponents is fun and all, but they desperately need some rotation help.

One good pitching innings eater would be great

We're sort of the definition of how to build a dominant team without a rotation right now.

Great bullpen (tonight notwithstanding)? Check.

Consistently, high-OBP, deep offense? Check.

Great defense (as measured by defensive efficiency)? Check.

Which is why Cendeno and Pie will be dealt at the deadline for an arm or two.

I think what is going for us is we have so many guys who are at least decent pitchers between AAA and MLB, which somewhat makes up for the lack of a great #2 starter.

"Or two?" Those two would be lucky to net a decent starter, much less two.

Yeah, I definitely don't mean our rotation is bad. It's not. Even Marquis would be an improvement over the last starter on a lot of teams. It's just definitely the least impressive part of the team since Hill disappeared.

If we can get Hill back and trade for a starter, whoa...

What kind of arms are those 2 guys going to fetch right now?

Cedeno+Pie+Murton+Marshall for Sabathia or Burnett (may or may not be realistic)

That depends entirely on what the contract situation of the arm.

Pie, especially, still has plenty of trade value.

Ryan Dempster is having a high-quality season...

Well, at least one. And that combo will net us a very solid number 3 starter.

Z

Demp

(Burnett?)

Lilly

Hill

I would be confident in the playoffs with that, especially with this offense.
