Ugh. Does anyone have faith in this guy facing other #2 starters in the playoffs? I don't. At all.

No. Not at all either. I think if the Cubs wanna go far in the playoffs they're going to need to aquire a #2.

We've all seen games like this before:

The Rockies will continue their homer-happy hit parade. The Cubs will hit weak grounders and will refuse to work the count all day.

i hope so. if we're gonna lose, might as well go ahead and lose by 20.

Most people here have been saying that for most of this season. Lilly isn't this bad, but he's not a "true" #2 that you can hinge your playoffs on with the ace.

Working the count is fine, but if you do it too much you are going to find yourself behind the count a lot with Cook.

I'm not prepare to give up on this game. The game barely started. I know Lilly looked like Shawn Estes in the first inning, but I got the feeling that Aaron Cook go Jason Marquis, and give up the lead by the 5th inning. Part of it says the Cubs have historically hit Cook well (Cubs have hit .287 against Cook), and believe it or not I believe Cook is making his ever start at Wrigley.

yep...this is why i constantly pray for the bluejays to loose at least 95% of their games till the allstar break...

Or we could just call our number 2 back up from Iowa.

Because the Cubs looked so good against sinker baller Derek Lowe

Rich Hill has not performed like a #2 at any point this season. I hope he does, but he's got to get things going in the right direction.

Yes in his what, 3 starts up here he wasn't great. Which is shocking. Most guys are great every game they pitch.

Come on we gave him 3 to 4 starts and then jerked him around.

are the Rockies shifting on every hitter?

Either their second baseman is shifted greatly toward the bag or he has the greatest range ever.

Soriano and Soto both hit balls that are usually hits.

You know my stance on Hill, I'm not his biggest supporter, but I don't dislike the guy.

Its not that his starts "weren't great". He was amechanical mess and had no idea where the ball was going. It would have been better if he was just getting hit, but he couldn't get it over the plate.

We'd have a five-man rotation in the playoffs?

He didn't even have to move. The shift was right on the money.
