I'm going to tonight's game, and I'm considering using the shuttle bus from DeVry. Has anyone used it before? Is it easy to park and ride? How often does it pick up fans at the parking lot?

I've only parked at Wrigley Field (at the Taco Bell or McDonald's lots), but that is very expensive and you get boxed in. The shuttle is only $6. I don't have the option for CTA/RTA tonight.

Park very far away and take the train.

This is the Key.

The DeVry shuttle is convenient but immediately after the game the shuttle buss is PACKED.

Technically I could take public transportation, but I'm closest to the Blue line at work. If I take the El, I'd rather go Green to Red, but that means parking in front of my parents house (free parking) and then walking to the El (8 blocks).

Blue line means switching to the Addison bus, correct?

I've done the Devry park and ride, and thought it was great. We're always coming from out of town, so the quick access to the interstate (packed though it may be) is very handy. Yes, the bus is packed after the game, but so is everything. I like not having to deal with around the ballpark traffic...let the bus driver do that. And the Devry park and ride is much, much cheaper than any of the parking options close to the park.

It's easy to park and ride, the buses leave every 10 minutes or so from the parking lot. It's about a 10-15 minute ride to Wrigley and it drops you off just down from the front entrance.

Like Roast said, expect to be packed into the return shuttle and you'll probably have to wait in line to board. I've seen the line stretch about a block for sold-out games. They only run for a set amount of time after the game -- you'd have to check what the cut-off is.

I've used it a few times for weeknight games.

Also, if you're meeting someone at the game who then wants to shuttle back with you, just ask for two shuttle passes when you park.

the devry shuttle is roughly 8 billion times more convenient than parking. used it for game 3 last fall, and while it was crowded, it sure beat parking.

It's fantastic. Highly recommend it.

I also highly recommend it. The lines can get a little long and the bus packed, but easily the best option.

I always laugh at the people who pay the $20, $25 or $30 to park right by the park then have to go through all the hassles. I especially love watching the people who park in the lots where you get blocked in and then have to wait for the other people to leave. It's usually some suburban schmuck in a Lexus or BMW gets worked into a lather.

Not sure why people are knocking the DeVry shuttle. I've done it twice, and it's perfectly fine.

Of course the shuttles are packed after the game. Also packed after the game: all the trains, all the streets, and all the parking lots surrounding the stadium.

Not sure why you think people are knocking the DeVry shuttle. Most everybody is praising it.

I used it once and it was fine. But I much prefer parking a few blocks south on the street for free and bar hopping my way up to the game. Plus, who wants to rush home after a Cubs game anyway?

Is the Orange line dangerous to ride at night?

No.

The only train in the city I'm not a huge fan of taking at night is the red line to 95th and Dan Ryan. I do it maybe once a year, wouldn't recommend it. Anything else shouldn't be a problem for a guy in the city. A woman alone, I wouldn't trust most places at night.

At least for me, bar hopping after a weeknight game is a bad thing to do. When I was younger I used to always spend an hour or two hanging out after weeknight games: now I can't do that anymore and be functional at work the next day. I've even left a few games early the last season or two.
