How does Hoff and Soriano not lay wood on one of those fastballs. Those things were right in the zone?

Because they've been watching 83 MPH sliders dropping out of the zone all night. Those fastballs looked 200 MPH the way they were swinging late.

that shouldn't matter, they know this guy has 2 pitches and he throws one more than the other. even if they see a good slider, he's bound to come back with a fastball, they should have just sat dead red.

Not very many at-bats for the Cubs against Saito..what they have isn't great.

Theriot 0-1

Lee 0-1

Ramirez 0-3

In fact, the Cubs team doesn't have a single hit against Saito in 8 AB's. Hopefully that will change tonight.

He's swinging late at everything.

I don't have my tapes of all 12 of Micah's PA's this year handy so I can't go back and reference but everyone was late last inning.

and the imcompetant offense comes up empty again.

That's the spirit...We've got the most productive offense in baseball, yet they are somehow incompetent.

We've got the heart of the order coming up and we're down 1 run...I think we can do it.

No pitcher has played a significant amount of time without allowing a run. It can happen.

What he said. I've got a strange feeling about the bottom of the 9th here.

You can sit dead red on a fastball, but as soul says---when you've been looking at lowballs and sinkers all night from Lowe, your timing on 97 mph gas is going to be off the first time you see this guy tonight. Next time through the order against Broxton( If it had been possible) they'd be better prepared to make adjustments.

I'm so glad we called up Chad Fox before this guy. Great move, Cubs.

I've got a feeling Ascanio will be that third reliable reliever Lou's been looking for. He looks great.

Either Theriot of Lee needs to get on for Ramirez. An Aramabomb is our only chance.

im feeling

Theriot K

Lee 6-3

Aram- single

Fuku- single, Aram goes to third

Soto- double

both runs score

I have confidence that Howry will turn it around, but otherwise I agree with you. Ascanio has tremendous stuff.
