surprise, surprise, a baserunning blunder by The Riot.

Very 2006 Cedeno-like baserunning from the Riot this year. Brutal.

how dare he catch the ball?!!! get rid of edmonds, he caught the ball.

2 for 13 with a walk as a Cub

i still can't believe that he had the gall to catch the ball, he must really suck.

That's a .367 OPS in case you don't want to do the math

Yep, dead to rights. Why on earth did he argue?

He's trying to get his grit points back.

Does arguing earn grit points? Can we get a ruling?

If you are already gritty, yes. They multiply your current grit level, so if it is already negative (like when Alfonseca and Alou argued), it hurts. But it helps Theriot.

don't worry about that.

but in all seriousness, you get my point. i'm not talking about people who have the arguments that you do (despite him only having 14 plate appearances as a cub.)

Very nice inning from Gallagher. The breaking stuff looked sharp.

He unleashed his other curveball this inning (the slow one). He needs to be careful with using it, since that's a pitch that will get hammered when in the strike zone.

I like that Kouske is hitting 2nd tonight. Hopefully he'll stay there and Soto will move up to 5th.

Doubtful. Lou likes to break up those righties.

I don't know if it gets less gritty than Antonio Alfonseca

Losing a finger makes you gritty. Adding one is just pathetic.

Okay, I'm a little embarassed at myself for contributing to the "Any Alfonseca reference must have a finger joke" mentalityi...
