I would have liked to have waited until the next right-hander on the mound to sit Theriot for Cedeno, but he did need a day off. Theriot shouldn't really start more than 145 games in a season. He should get a day off every 10 days or so.

Yes, there is. He's probably at least as good as Lieber, Rich Hill has back spasms, and Marshall isn't stretched out yet.

 

Marquis in rotation + Lieber in bullpen > Lieber in rotation and Marquis in Bullpen.

 

When Hill and/or Marshall are ready to go, then I agree, DFA Marquis.

Honestly, does it really matter? Bring up a AAA guy for a few starts until Hill is ready. If anything, he's not going to be worse than Marquis. When Marquis goes out, you know exactly what you're getting, and that's four innings of completely mediocre baseball with one inning of trash. It's got to stop.
