I don't see why we are complaining about Ludwig. I mean what was Soto's minor league line until last year? I bet Cardinals fans are saying the same thing about him.

Soto in AAA last year: .353/.424/.652

Ludwick in AAA two years ago (his last full minor league season): .266/.342/.506

Blame TB for this one, they should've swept. Horrible base-running yesterday and more mental mistakes today combined with walking hitters that should have almost as many DFAs as teams played.

yeah i don't really understand how guys like izturis and larue are walking... just throw the ball down the middle, the worst that happens is they hit a single

It makes one wonder if they aren't somehow cheating ala the Patriots.

you mean aside from the roids?

Yeah. Like maybe they're much better at stealing signs than other teams. Just a thought.

In Ludwick's defense, I think it's been several years since he's been healthy and he's had quite a few injuries over the years that have prevented him from playing much.

On the other hand, he's hitting a home run about every 10 PAs this year. Ridiculous.

He's got to be juicing. There's no way he's that good. Not even over a short period of time.

Well, that was a strangely enjoyable game.

It's odd how we lost the two gimmes of the past two series (Estes' start for SD, Zambrano's start yesterday), but won the games we least expected to win (Peavy's start for SD, today's game). I'm ecstatic we went 8-2 on the homestand, but man, we did it in a weird way.

Just got back from the game, that was a really fun time. The crowd was among the quietest I've ever seen at Wrigley, though.

Since there's no other games thread, I'll post it here. Worst call I've seen in a long time on a clear home run ball in the Mets/Yanks game. Riley (3rd base ump) calls it a homer, it WAS a homer without any question whatsoever, then the home plate ump comes over and calls it foul and it is taken off the board.
