From ESPN: Zambrano declined comment Wednesday when asked about the arrival of Edmonds in the Cubs' lineup.

I really hope this signing does not mess up the chemistry. As I said in another thread, Z and Edmonds really do not like each other. :banghead:

I love mi hermano but Zambrano gotta chill out. Get over it--that's the past. marquis knows him very well and says that Edmonds is a great teammate. I think the two of them will be just fine. Look I too was against this signing but now it's time to give this dude a chance.

Im not surprised...Your demoting a young Latin American CF with more speed, range and upside to a declining, washed up 38 year old white guy..Of course Carlos is going to think the way he is..Im white and I say to hell with Edmonds..

Of course..This Cubs organization is to obsessed with buying low and expecting these guys to ressurect their career and become phenomanal by joining the Cubs..Wade Miller,Lieber, Etc..I hope I am wrong and Edmonds becomes a RHP killing machine but I don't see it happening. But if 2005 Edmonds come back, I would be happy as hell.

Outfielders can't be gritty.

He goes all out, gives 110%, leaves it all on the field, plays the game the right way, and is a "baseball player" however.

I said it in the Edmonds thread and it bears repeating. My best hope now is that Edmonds turns a routine fly into a disaster trying to make a highlight reel catch, and Z runs out to center and "Fontenot's" him into the ground.

Edmonds' personality is one thing that seems to be overlooked. The Cubs appear to have good clubhouse chemistry right now, bringing in Edmonds might upset given if his reputation becomes truth.

ping, i know that you are aware, but i'll point out that they are winning. if edmonds helps them win, the chemistry will continue.

That's the kicker. While in STL, they did well and he did well & you're able to put up with his me 1st attitude if he's producing.

Zambrano appears to be stepping up as a leader, finally maturing and taking that next step. Lee is considered a leader in that clubhouse.

If Edmonds thinks they're going to put up w/that and assumes based on what he did several years ago, like SD, his time in the clubhouse won't be enjoyable.

I hope Lou doesn't give him extra slack based on the fact he has had a very good career compared to the fact he's a recently released player that many think is way past getting anything out of him.

I hope they are right and he came back too early from injury as started to swing better towards the end in SD, if he doesn't, I hope they don't drag it on by trying to squeeze orange juice out of the peel.

Why does everyone insist on bringing race into the equation of this move so much? YOU'RE putting words/thoughts in Carlos's head without knowing what's going on.

Maybe Z is just thinking in sole baseball sense that this is one of the dumbest moves the team could make... race be darned.

especially considering there's a history between Z and Jimmy

He's not even gritty, according to those grit rankings FJM talked about a while back:

Why would Carlos want to comment on a move that hadn't happened yet when his words would undoubtedly be twisted or at least exaggerated? I think he'd much rather just have a brief chat with Edmonds and move on.

Besides, yesterday was his day to meet with Cuauhtemoc Blanco. Z had to get in the right zone.

When did Carlos become the spokesman for anything besides McDonald's? Isn't this the first season he hasn't acted like a baby? Has he matured? Looks like it to me, but he doesn't speak for the team. For someone who only goes every 5 days, he should just shut his yap and do his job. The leader of the team is Lee, no one else

This is a low risk..high reward move. If Edmonds is done and Pie hits .400 in Iowa, then Edmonds will be out of here. I'm hoping that Pie makes it back because we have so much invested in him. But he's got to play and he wasn't doing that here. Come July when teams start to unload their roster, Hendry could have a better selection of OF.

All you experts on Edmonds, assuming that you have met him away from the field, what is your chief complaint? I have heard he's a little aloof, stand-offish in the clubhouse. But that's what sportswriters say. The players seem to like him. Is this the Edmonds you met? On the field he's a hot dog, showboats and makes average plays look difficult.

I heard similiar comments before the Bulls signed Dennis Rodman. We hated him, he was a tool, he's self-centered and will disrupt the chemistry of the Bulls. 3 Championship rings later..he's a hero. He also wore makeup, dyed his hair and had tattoos...OMG! If Edmonds helps this team win, that's all I want.

Lee? Really?

The only time Lee every says anything publicly is when he whines about booing fans.
