it's funny to see all the irrational, meatball posts.

it's kinda the opposite of when ditka went to new orleans. the meatballs really didn't know what to do, then.

Somehow it'll be remembered as Edmonds' fault the ball bounced off the wall on two hops to the catcher, so that Ramirez was out.

That 7th inning AB was a shame, though.

God those pictures make me want to punch my soapdropping computer screen.

God do I hate him, and I will ALWAYS hate him, and f the cubs fans that cheered for him today. Bunch of douchebags.

Wow. I hope this is some form of sarcasm/humor. But it doesn't sound like it, so my suggestion to you is to go get some help immediately.

Wow, I have to tell you that I never expected Demp to be this good as a starter. Good win. We have one of the best records in baseball, you gotta love it.

i'll hope that the cubs can get something out of him, if they don't, i'll be the first to admit that he should be let go.

i'm not going to hate on him for the 32 home runs he's hit off of us in 8 years, though.

i was far less annoyed by him than i thought i'd be.

It was bizarre seeing him in the Cubs uni at first, but I was over it by his 2nd AB.

Considering he hasn't played for a while, I was surprised that his timing wasn't worse.

God, stop using that word. It makes you sound so bitter/pathetic.

What I'd like to see happen is to give Edmonds a daily shot against RHs for, say, 3 weeks. In the meantime, let Pie work closely with Keller to improve his strike zone judgment and pitch recognition some, fix his weight distribution, and give him solid playing time every day against every kind of pitcher. If after 3 weeks Edmonds isn't working out (I'd say if Edmonds were performing the equivalent of Reed Johnson vs. righties), let him go, bring Pie up and play Pie against every righty the Cubs face the rest of the year.

At least then the Cubs give Pie a chance to perfect the things they want him to work on, and at the end of the year they have a better idea of what they have going forward. If Edmonds seriously works out (say, a .275/.350/.450 line or better), then there's little harm in the acquisition anyway, and if you want to use Pie as a 5th OF or let Johnson walk, you have the flexibility to do that.

Unfortunately, Hendry seems to value some very weird things in offensive players.

Personally, I think the guys hating on a Cubs player so hard are the ones that sound bitter/pathetic.

Well thats your perogative.

Can we all just agree that some people are not going to ever like Edmonds, while others will. There is no need to have 10 pages wasted every game thread to calling everyone out on being a good/bad Cubs fan because of who they cheer for.

I don't really have strong feelings one way or the other, but it was kind of surreal when I caught myself cheering for Edmonds over Greg Maddux. Edited by Elrhino

I only said it because he got personal/insulting about it. *shrug*

That just doesn't seem right. Oh well....go Edmonds!

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snappy. I can just see this becoming a recurring thing, and I don't want to sift though 10 pages of "You're a bad Cubs fan for hating Edmonds" every day.

Berkman homers to give the Astros a 8-7 lead in the 9th. Freaking ridiculous.

Berkman batting around .700 nowadays. Freaking ridiculous.

Well if that isn't the most ironic thing I've read today, I don't know what is.
