So today Edmonds has come up with 8 runners on base, 7 of them in scoring position, and none of them have scored?

To be fair, the Ramirez situation was not his fault, and Ramirez would have scored on his single.

Edmonds really is OVERMATCHED against lefties. And he gets booed for his effort.

As long as its not Lou doing the booing, he'll stay int he lineup

I really get the impression from his PC yesterday that Lou isn't all that excited about this signing.

I'd be stunned if Lou wasn't the one pushing for this.

Fortunately, the Cub offense has been good enough all around so that an overall disappointing first day for Edmonds has been overcome by this point. Remember, Hendry needed an extra LH bat in the lineup in CF.

That is why Edmonds ain't starting the next 3 games

I'm beginning to become convinced that Lou Piniella has no clue what the meaning of the word "platoon" is. I wouldn't be surprised if Edmonds started all three games.

Dusty must have left the "Dusty Baker guide to platooning" in the desk, and Lou has been reading it.

I have a bad feeling about all these LOB.

It's what happens when you lead the league in OBP.

Get used to it.

We probably should be hitting into *more* double plays, not less, as well.

I know, but I want to make the numbers for Edmonds look as bad as possible.

I'm really sick of MLB.tv's false advertising. "Get every game live on MLB.TV!!" Except those that are blacked out because of Fox on Saturday's and those that are blacked out even though it is 1000 miles from where you live.

Yep, 9 (or hopefully 8) outs are going to be made by the Cubs to end innings. That will happen EVERY ballgame. Teams with high OBP will have runners on the bases when those outs are made.

16 baserunners in 7 innings should lead to more than 4 runs being scored.

LOB is a good thing, overall. the more you leave on base, the more people you're putting there, the more runs you're scoring.

The great thing about high-OBP teams is that most of the time, it will. But not all of them are always going to be driven in.

Dempster is sexy.

Some bad breaks in the second inning cost the Cubs at least a couple runs, and in the 5th inning, 6 baserunners led to 4 runs. Beyond that, only the 7th inning was really disappointing, and even then Cedeno missed clearing the bases by a few feet.

I really hate Brian Giles. No idea why I started hating him, but pulling that catch out of his anus just reinforced it.

Ronny hit that ball freakin' hard.

yeah, so? this is one of 162 games.

there are bound to be days when you leave runners on base.

The best thing about a high OBP is that in games where only 20% of your runners are scoring, you still get 4 runs.
