He was horrible at stealing in the minors, too.

wrong again.

You have a very interesting perspective on what constitues a good basestealer.

more accurately, you have a very interesting (wrong) perspective on what constitutes a horrible basestealer.

What cracks me up is that all this blow up for Theriot being called out but in reality he was safe. If the call was right, would the blow up be on Theriot? Nope. Let's redirect our anger here folks and not use it as an excuse to continue the tirade on Theriot.

The throw beat him by a mile. He's not fast and he really hasn't shown that he's a good base-stealer.

Great he was safe though so how are you answering my post again?

You are the only one insisting he was safe. The rest of us have seen replays and still don't see it.

He was out. The tag was high, but it was still put on before Theriot's midget leg reached the bag.

Obviously we wouldn't. But the fact of the matter is that Theriot's tried to steal unsuccessfully more than 3 or 4 times in less than a week. He's showed in the last few series that he's not a very good basestealer.

Honest question: When is A-Ram expected back?

People are saying tomorrow

Brett Favre>Braun by the way

It was way to big, so I changed it. Thanks for the answer.

Let's all be completely honest here. Theriot is good at stealing bases... when he gets to pick his spots.

This season, he's on track for 66 SB attempts. He's running a lot more often than he ever had before, and certainly in much worse situations. He wont succeed attempting this many swipes, and he's hurting our team right now everytime he takes off. He needs to be stopped from running so damn often.

Terrible terrible call

Not even close to the strike zone

K Zone disagrees.

How accurate is K Zone? The box they put up always seems so small

More accurate than partisan fans watching from a skewed camera angle, let's put it that way.

We only scored 2 runs off of Todd Wellemeyer. Let's all think about that for a while.

all i can say is that if pitch 2 and pitch 4 to soto were both strikes, then the strike zone is about a foot and a half wider than it should be.

Not really. The comments are that the throw beat him so that = out in Umps mind. The replay is clear that his foot in on the base. But it is done so the issue really is, why not take it out on the ump and not on the player who plays for the team that you want to win

The replay isn't clear. I've rewatched it and so have others. He was out.

Even if he was safe it would have been do to a bad tag/throw and not because of Theriot's talents.

OMFG DONT STEAL BASES THERIOT YOU SUCK AT IT

he doesn't actually.

83% (or so) for his career (59 attempts) but 7 for 12 this year... He's been pretty good and this year he has been terrible

70% in the minors. The evidence is pretty mixed.

70% isn't terrible, though. And 83% is pretty good. Therefore, he's not terrible. May not be great, but he's certainly not terrible.

I wonder, how odd is it to have much higher SB% in the majors when you didn't get real playing time until your late 20s? Should be uncommon/improbable, right?

All I'm saying is Theriot's true basestealing ability is likely somewhere in between 70 and 83% - which would put him right around decent.

Like Truffle said, though, he shouldn't be running on Molina.

But he got worked pretty well. In previous Cubs seasons than this would have been much more frustrating. The team is just not coming through with scoring opportunities

Generic White Cardinals' Minor League Outfielder X now enters the game, with GWCMLO Y due up 3rd.

Because everyone else who has looked at the reply disagrees with you. Why do you keep going on about this? It's kinda creepy.
