I love Wikipedia:

One of God's claims to fame is sharing an AAU team with Kobe Bryant.

Kerry Wood has gotten a 2-strike count on an opposing batter in 79 ABs this season. In those ABs, he has allowed 2 singles, 1 double, 3 walks, 1 HBP, and 1 SF. That's a 0.084 OBP. With 49 strikeouts, batters have been 7x more likely to strike out when they get to 2 strikes than they are to reach base.

For comparison, Marmol has only been 3.89x more likely to strike them out with 2 strikes.

I wanted that to be highlights from his sham k'ing of the side.

Someone should splice together some highlights.

Strike 3......"you followin' me camera guy??"

I remember Schilling saying Wood has "video game stuff".... Those ESPN highlights looked like nintendo 64.... Old school Woody!

I recall that Damian Miller (after coming to the Cubs from AZ where he caught Schilling & RJ in their prime) told Dan Patrick that Woody had the best stuff of anyone he's ever caught. Patrick followed-up, giving Miller the chance to equivocate, but he stuck to his guns & said Woody is the nastiest guy he ever caught.

I really don't think there's a Cub that I've been happier to see do well than Kerry this year. The fact that he's turned into one of the best players at his position in baseball makes it even sweeter.

I was calmer than you. 8-)

Woody is just unfair.

No question, you had it called all the way. I should listen to you more often.

I was hoping you'd get the Lebowski reference...

That would have required me having seen the movie.

For Shame.

I've seen it twice. I think I'd rather have the Kerry Wood dirty sanchez special that Vance speaks of; than to have to sit through that movie again.

Well, relatively speaking.

Wood's current line right now when facing a batter with 2 strikes is .036/.089/.048. His 53 strikouts mean that he's now 6.625x more likely have struck out an opposing batter than let him reach base.

Major league average this season with 2 strikes is a line of .170/.242/.258 with a 1.626x greater occurence of striking out than reaching base.

We should sign Borowski now that Cleveland has DFA'd him. He has more experience at closing games so he is obviously a better choice than Wood.
