Were any of those really strikes?

Yes. Hella good pitches painting the black, too.

The last one was on the chalk of the other batters box. That is not a strike.

Camera angle is playing tricks on your eyes.

Len's too apparently.

I know the Cubs love being patient, but Gallardo might be a guy to swing early in the count against.

Nah. Lets wait him out and get into their bullpen.

Tough to swing at those cut fastballs in the left-handed batters box that are being called strikes.

That wasn't an illusion, strike 3 to Soto was a solid foot outside, and it tailed towards the plate to get that close. There's a reason Soto stood there for a minute.

Strike 2 was in the same location but a bit higher

What I love is you know at a big point in this game with one of their studs up, that zone will suddenly shift.

i can't see the game but the ump seems to have a very large zone today, no?

Not really. There's been a lot of borderline pitches called strikes, but they were all very close either way. There haven't been any Eric Gregg moments.

it seems you are the only one who thinks this way.

Wow, I turned it on just in time to see strike 3.

At least it seems Z is getting that same obscene corner.

Haha. This strikezone is hilarious. Whoever gets a run is going to win this game today.

yeah, strike 3 on counsell was probably even more outside than strike 3 on soto. but they're both balls.

I'm comfortable with that.

MLB umps are way better than they get credit for. The reason strike zones look so wide is because of the camera angle. Am I wrong, or are most of the so-called "wide strike" calls on the outside portion to right-handed hitters? That's the optical illusion of the camera angle coming from the right of the pitcher.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if this were the first game they ever used this camera angle on TV. However, it's not, and the overwhelming majority of us have in fact seen other games from this camera angle, and those pitches appear a good 5-6 inches outside.

"Many times in Cameron's career he's struck out in double digits"

what, len?

Yeah, I was coming here to see if I was hearing things... I'm guessing he meant triple digits?
