It's a shame Leitch did such a garbage job of defending his viewpoint. I disagree with Bissinger and Costas, but Leitch didn't defend himself well. I think he was surprised by the ambush.

Bissinger came off like a total old-guard ****. What an angry schmuck. And it was good to have my already low opinion of pretentious-ass Bob Costas further confirmed. He didn't moderate that session; he had a clear bias and attacked.

Yeah, he said on Deadspin that he saw it coming before the interview started, something about people stewing backstage. If you're looking for it, you can tell in the introduction that he's expecting something. But he didn't do a great job of defending his viewpoint. Of course, he didn't pick up a bat and crush Buzz's skull, so he gets points for self restraint. Honestly, it's very difficult to defend yourself well in a verbal assault with an arrogant, yet ignorant, blowhard streaming illogical, rage-filled, F-bombs at you. Even if you're prepared for something of an attack, he probably didn't see it playing out quite that way. I certainly didn't, and I didn't even see the clip until after having read about it on FJM and Deadspin.

My favorite part was Will doing the huffy-faced arms swinging imitation of a mad Buzz while Buzz keeps cutting him off.

I just can't stop laughing about Braylon Edwards being there. It's so random and pointless.

I loved his justification for athlete's actions. "We're no different than athletes of the 60s. We just get caught b/c there's cameras everywhere."

Ok, Braylon.

it's so odd to have your entire perception of bizzinger shattered in about 10 minutes

i like to think of writers as calm, rational, "in the background types". Guess that's my bad.

My perception wasn't that high of him to being with. Friday Night Lights was an outstanding, but Three Night in August was an awful fluff piece. Obviously him conducting himself like an ass didn't help matters.

Everyone do themselves a favor and listen to the Boog Sciambi interview with the grown man named Buzz off of FJM. It's great. Boog Sciambi is awesome.

Awesome. The best part was when Buzz called someone completely unrelated to the conversation a slime bucket.

And yeah, I realize the hypocrisy of ripping Bissinger for going by Buzz while I say how awesome a guy named Boog is.

But seriously, if you're gonna have a ridiculous name, you better be cool, and Boog rocks it.

OK, I don't mean to dig up an old thread (is 2 days old?), but Deadspin and FJM are 75% comedy blogs and 25% sports blogs. I don't understand why this point wasn't made. People don't go to those websites for the news, or to have intelligent discussion (although FJM uses intelligence as a vehicle for comedy), they go to laugh their asses off. Theres nothing wrong with them, but don't call them sports blogs, because they aren't.

I don't understand why he didn't make the justification that half of the posts that are made are meant in jest and for humor's sake. He was treating it like the writers there are good journalists. I don't read these blogs for their incredible analysis or input or up-to-date news information, I read them because they make me laugh and they poke fun at sports

Boog and Len use to do Marlin games on the radio. It was a real treat to listen to them.

I finally got around to watching this yesterday and the segment on sports radio was a little more interesting to me. Specifically, it was Mariotti looking down on sports radio for being reactionary and inflammatory.

I guess he really does forget his columns as soon as he spews them.

Yeah, I thought that was deliciously ironic as well. Sports radio is embodied by idiotic ranting and Mariotti's column is embodied by idiotic ranting. He really is the sports radio of print journalism.
