Every 20 years, only one Cubs prospect is allowed to pan out. This is Geovony Sotos turn. Pie, Colvin, Vitters, E-Patt, etc. must all be vacated from the orgnization for their own good, or else they'll end up like Gary Scott, eagerly awaiting their next opportunity to sing the 7th inning stretch because Belushi had to cancel at the last minute.

This can't be accurate.

In his limited playing time since the staff were supposedly really working closely with Pie, he's been noticeably better.

For anyone who is still worked up over this, remember this is Will Carroll. If it isn't injury related, he's the worst source out there. Remember when he scooped that we had signed Pudge? He has no inside sources for that aspect of the game.

I was mistaken in my headline -- it was Perrotto, not Carroll. That said, I have no idea how good Perrotto's sources are.

If the Cubs were truly "fed up" with Pie, they would:

A. Send him back down to AAA to rot.

B. Not even bring Dave Keller up to work with the young man.

C. Piniella would not have personally worked with Pie.

D. The Cubs would have traded for Coca Crisp, already.

So, I doubt buy this "Cubs are fed up" with Felix Pie. I think it's made up fairy tale.

Yeah, that's bs. He's not fed up with him, yet. I do wonder how much Felix will play the next 2 series. Should have all RHs going for Milwaukee and St. Louis, but I'm pretty sure Lou sees these as "big" games, as he's already pulled a meaningless rotation change in April. So, my guess is that Johnson gets at least 3, and probably 4 or 5 of the 6 starts because he wants what he thinks is his best lineup on the field in what he thinks are monumental games.

This has got to be bogus. Although, I have no doubt he's trade bait. Who isn't? Well, expect Soto.

Kosuke Fukudome.

Lou strikes me as the kind of guy who would get fed up if his dorito was not a perfect triangle

Thank you for this one sir

I hope that the poster here was refering to prospects. I highly doubt that Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Fukudome, Zambrano, Marmol, Wood, Dempster or even DeRosa or Lilly have ever been considered "trade bait".

I doubt that Lou would give up on a guy whose essentially been limited to pinch hitting duty and late inning outfield subbing.

If there has been nay talk of trading Pie, its due to Reed Johnsons performance.

Matt Murton says hey.

The difference is that Matt Murton will be traded for a few A-AA prospects, while Pie will spendthe bulk of the season as an extra set of legs.

You know what I'm fed up with? People taking one-line blurbs from a random source and treating it like the ironclad truth and then using it as an opportunity to talk about how they're smarter than Lou Piniella.

It's a message board. We talk about what we have. If you have an opportunity to talk to Lou and get the scoop straight from him, let us know. Otherwise we'll just have to talk about this.

And who is saying anything about it being the ironclad truth other than you?

Trading Pie because you have Reed Johnson is like cutting off your manhood because you have a finger.

I talked with Lou today during breakfest over the phone at an unnamed place. He says, Whats up NSBB... Also he wanted to pass along that he is not fed up with Pie, but he don't care for cake anymore..

On a side note: Really has anyone ever come across one of the Cubs players MSN, yahoo or so on Messenger ID?

This is the honest truth back in about 96 or 97 I was looking for someone on AOL instant messenger, "my last name is Adams". I came across something that seemed kind of odd. I did some checking and sure enough Same birthday, hometown, birthtown and so on... everything matched to be Terry Adams. I thought oh well, i sent the dude a simple message and just talked for a little while. (I'm not gay!) Anyways this went on for about 2 weeks, 10 minutes at a time (not more). Then I just asked, if he was a baseball player for the Cubs. He said yes he was. Now naturally I have NO WAY of knowing for sure, but I have to think if someone was pulling my leg I would have been able to figure it out... Online during a game and so on, not knowing the score of a game (fast reply back) or something along them lines. Not once did suspect he was someone other then who he said he was!

By the way, I never did get any inside info, In fact I think I was the one that broke it to him that we had signed Benito Santiago that winter.

I assume that marked the end of your friendship.

HAHA... It did not continue to grow! Actually I think either later that winter or into that summer he was traded and I never sent another message to him.

I'd much rather have Pie out there every day, but it's well within the realm of possibility that Reed could post a .780-.800 OPS playing every day.

Obviously Pie could do better, but I doubt this year. Plus he has to find his way into the everyday lineup, which may not happen at this point, seeing as his chances to prove himself are sporadic at best.

And we have another appearance of the Pie rumor from BP...

San Diego is becoming increasingly convinced that Jim Edmonds is at the end of the line, and is considering dealing for a younger center fielder. They have an eye on the Cubs’ Felix Pie

Ignoring the Piniella aspect of Perrotto's previous rumbling, he's posted a second time that the Padres are interested in Pie.

I'd be pretty surprised if this was true about Lou.

However, not shocked at all about the Padres. Jim Edmond's corpse isn't a great CF option.
