Honestly, would you rather have Soto or Pie up there in that situation?

 

Soto, obviously. What I'm saying is that Lou should have just put Geo into the game in the first place. He can hit both righties and lefties and there was no reason to waste Pie as well.

 

You get Gordon out of the game and put Soto in a favorable situation. I don't have a problem wasting Pie. We're on the road, so we're not hoping to go to extras. You have to play for the lead. I thought it was a great move by Lou to get Soto an at-bat in the best situation.

 

Here's a question? Would people be this up-in-arms about the move if it were Fontenot used instead of Pie? I know Fontenot was already used, but what if he weren't. Would you still think it was a stupid decision?

I think there was one actual strike pitched to both Ward and Sori in those two at bats. Very nice!

 

At least we get the heart of the order up in the 9th now.

Ron's commentary is just awful today - he seems to be totally out of it...

I guess I should qualify that by saying, more so than usual. I mean, it seems like there is something actually wrong with him, Pat keeps asking him questions and it is followed by long periods of mumbling and silence.

I really don't get using wood here unless lou plans on using him in two consecutive innings.
