I considered downgrading them back to the Cobs, but I thought that was little rough after a five-game winning streak

Since it seems obvious the cubs will lose this game, they will in some miraculous way win. 5-4 sounds just about right, with DeRosa regaining his rock star status with a late inning home run.

It's a planned day off for Fukudome, which really makes me wonder how Lou is going to arrange the outfield.

Ward is the worst option-can't hit left-handers, can't play defense.

Pie is a little better, but I don't know why Lou would sit him tonight and then play him tomorrow against a left-hander.

Maybe DeRosa in right and Fontenot at 2nd?

This was pretty poorly planned by Lou. Fukudome should have been given the night off today (Friday) and had Pie-Ward in the OF, and then Johnson and Fukudome could be the CF-RF combo for Saturday. Instead, it's a bad situation no matter how it's done.

Well clearly Lou wanted to give Fukudome a day off against a hard lefty. The problem is that most of the bench guys are lefties.

What about Soriano/Johnson/DeRo in the OF, with Theriot moving to 2B, and Cedeno in at SS? I'm more concern about how the batting lineup will look tomorrow, moreso then have the defensive alignment will be.

this is going to be a weird lineup. you can rest Fukudome, but you can't increase the # of righties in the lineup, as Ward and Fontenot and Pie are your main bench guys right now. Only thing I can thing of is something like this (shudder):

1. Soriano LF

2. Johnson CF

3. Lee 1B

4. Ramirez 3B

5. DeRosa RF

6. Soto C

7. Theriot SS

8. Cedeno 2B

Guess we are seeing Theriot tomorrow.

damn

A HR and 3 Ks in 10 ABs vs. Hamels. That has to be his best and worst ratios against any pitcher.

And Soriano defies all statistical logic. His regular splits are bad enough, but how does he have 3 HRs vs. Hamels?

I have a bad feeling I'll be starting tomorrow's game thread. If thats the case, I will put it up, I just might get in a little late.

Oh and get your crap together Cobs

Given that Fukudome isn't playing, I'd hope they'll go for an outfield of Soriano-Pie-Johnson.

And I've got a good feeling about this game.

I was thinking something similar. I'd rather have Soriano/Pie/Derosa with Theriot at 2B and Cedeno at SS. That would at least give us good defense in the OF. I'd also guess that Soto will get the night off...which might be needed but still sucks.
