I was on this after ST, as most of us were. Depending on how Marquis does in his next start, I'd put Lieber in the rotation and consider taking out Hill or Marquis.

sadly, given lou's a.d.d. managing, it wouldn't surprise me if this happened.

Ya gotta tip your cap to Liebs today. He worked quickly and efficiently. Really reminded me of his last stint with the Cubs. I hope he continues pitching well.

Come on, he wasn't even finding the strike zone and every guy was hitting him hard. Throw the Brewers out against him and the Cubs get destroyed. If Marquis or Marshall looks strong the next few starts, I would put Lieber in over Hill.

Just because a guy is having command troubles in one game doesn't mean he's always going to have command problems. You've seen Hill pitch enough to know that there is zero reason to bump him from the rotation based on his outing tonight. What's even better is he was horrible tonight but Lieber came in and kept the Cubs in the game.

It is true that I am overreacting for now, but if it continues over his next few starts...

Lilly didn't come anywhere near the zone in his last start. Should Lieber be replacing him?

Let's be serious. Z, Lilly, and Hill are our best pitchers. Getting rid of any of those three would be asinine.

My inner pitching coach was telling me he wasn't releasing the ball out in front. No control of the curveball tonight, folks.

It was the fastball he was having trouble with. The curveball was just fine.

Putting Lieber in over Hill? Ok, let's cut the overreaction. If we're going to replace anyone based on two starts, it should be Lilly.

Compare the two:

Rich Hill: 9 IP, 7 H, 7 BB, 7 K, 5 R, 5.00 ERA.

Ted Lilly: 8.1 IP, 12 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 9 R, 9.72 ERA.

Now, please, anyone who wants Lieber over Hill, why not Lieber over Lilly instead? Because if anyone deserves to be yanked from the rotation after two starts it's Ted Lilly.

Mark Guthrie, Kyle Farnsworth, Will Ohman, Kevin Tapani and Todd Van Poppel...

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Bring 'em all back! :write:

Yeah... congrats. Your act got old inside of 20 posts. That makes you only the 2nd person I've ever bothered to put on ignore.

Honestly, I really like Lieber in this role now. It's nice having a guy who can come in and eat 2-3 innings at least and he can spot start too if needed. I have no desire to put him in the rotation yet, unless someone really starts to suck, and even then I'd go with Marshall before Lieber.

Please. Like Hill is some proven veteran or something. The blind adulation for Hill and his mediocre season last year, is really pathetic.

I like Lieber as the long man out of the pen. With the exception of Zambrano, the Cubs have medocre starting pitching and will have their games where they get shelled and a long man is a very valuable asset to this team. Both games where Lieber came in to put the fire out, the Cubs won, so it's not like he'll always be coming int to games in non winning situations and just pitching to save the pen.

I could see Hart make a couple starts this season.

It's been awhile since we've had a Rich Hill pissing contest. How the man inspires this much bizarre behavior from certain posters on this board will forever be a mystery to me.

So, when Lilly gets shelled in Philly this weekend, how many posts will we see seriously advocating his removal from the rotation? None? One?

So...what was Zambrano's season last year?

Our offense last year must've been incredible considering we apparently had nothing but mediocre or worse starting pitchers.
