they show the replay of the last foul, where the clock - placed on the screen by the producers - runs off five seconds after the whistle. Clearly the refs are looking at the replay monitor to see how much time gets put back on.

I see your point, but that isn't what I was doing. It was the National Championship. I'm not a fan of Memphis either. Personally, I was hoping for the Apocalypse.
