Is it wrong for me to hope that Dempster gets rocked, or should I get used to the fact he's locked in to the #3 spot in the rotation?

It would appear that Dempster is going to be the #3 starter unless his arm falls off or something, so you might as well root for him to do good.

Yeah, but I think if he gets rocked three or four times during the regular season Lou will quickly pull him. Especially if Marshall can continue pitching somewhat effective.

Have any of the 4 competing for the other 2 rotation spots looked bad yet? I know Marshall has had a couple problems but they all seem to be pitching pretty well. Hopefully they all continue to pitch well during the year.

Dempster, Wood, Marmol, Cotts, and Pignatiello are scheduled to pitch today, not sure what order though.

Is Kevin Hart still on the spring training roster? If so, kcroyals.com has him listed to pitch today as well. FWIW.

The Royals are throwing out Tomko, then he'll be followed by Julio Pimentel, Yasuhiko Yabuta, Leon Nunez and Ron Mahay.

Hart is still on the roster, but didn't he just pitch? He got hit by that line drive too.

Yeah, he pitched on Friday, but because of the injury he only got to pitch to 4 batters. So if they took him out for precautionary reasons, they likely want to make up that loss of an inning as soon as they can.

I read on Cubs.com that Fukudome will not be making the trip, I'd imagine there are going to be a lot of players given the day off, they said yesterday that the trip from Mesa to Surprise is a long drive/short flight.

Interesting with Murton in RF. Any chance Lou is thinking of moving Fukudome to CF?

Doubted. I think he just wants to give Fuku a day off but still play sori.

I'm sure you're right...just grasping at straws.

Another topic, could Fukudome be effective at leadoff and how would that set up the rest of the order?

I think he'd be very effective. High OBP and he even has enough speed to convince old school managers.

I'd set it up like this

Fukudome

DeRosa

Lee

Ramirez

Soriano

Soto

Pie

Theriot

Pitcher

Lou would put theriot ahead of pie though.

I'd put Soriano between Lee and Ramirez. Not much incentive to pitch to him otherwise.
