This is starting to give me a headache. First we trade Jacque Jones, a center fielder, our biggest current need for Omar Infante, a middle infielder which we really didnt need, and then turned around and traded Infante for a reliever which we really didnt need, and now we went and signed yet another middle infielder which we didnt need.

Cintron = Macias '08

Cintron = Izturis

There you go.

well cintron would = izturis if the plan is to start him. i'm thinking more along the lines of "first pinch-hitter every game regardless of situation"

If Cedeno goes somewhere in a trade, and Theriot starts out with a thud, what do you think is gonna happen?

Infante isn't a reliever, not that it makes anything any better

Marquis for Derek Jeter?

That would be soooo clutch.

I don't think he said that he was.

If this is true, does this mean the Brian Roberts deal is dead, ordo they just want a bunch of middle infielders? Neifis still out there. Does Roberto Alomar still play? Rey Ordonez seems to try a comeback every year.

Jeff Blauser plz.

If it meant anything with regard to Roberts, it would mean the opposite. They wouldn't just sign Cintron because Roberts isn't coming, IMO. It could easily mean, however, that Cedeno is or will be headed somewhere.

If it's a minor league deal it isn't much to get worked up over. Unless a trade happens, he doesn't make the team. My guess is that the Cubs preferred to get him into camp in case a MI gets hurt or is traded.

Cintron sucks; we all know that. But if Cedeno were traded, we don't have a lot of depth at the SS position behind Theriot. I don't like it, but at least it isn't a major league contract.

Maybe we need some depth at AAA. This reminds me of Grissom's minor league deal a couple of years back. So long as its a minor league deal I don't care.

The OH is talking like the O's had offered Cintron a major league deal. Wonder why he would have accepted a minor league deal from the Cubs, unless there was the understanding that after the trade happened he would be added to the roster.

Yeah kinda bizarre that he would accept a non-guaranteed chance to be a 25th man over a guaranteed deal to likely be the starting SS. Can the lure of winning be that great with this man?
