Well, there's the smoking gun. Even the most hardcore Bonds defenders can't stick up for him this time.

No HOF, and I doubt he'll ever have another plate appearance in light of these allegations.

Two of the "greatest" players in the last 50 yrs, getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar (steroids), makes me sad.

We should be appreciating what Bonds and Clemens have done in the career, yet what they did to accomplish it, not only tarnish their careers, but also the game of baseball. But hey, they should be accompanying Rose very, very soon.

So with the Bonds and Clemens steroid thing, who now are the greatest pitcher and hitter of our generation (assuming they are clean).

I'd definitely say Maddux for pitcher.

Hitter....Pujols, Arod?

Oh that's easy:

Kent Merker and Neifi Perez

Manny Ramirez?

I don't know, maybe Meph can help us out here. He seems keen on EqA as the best way to measure a hitter, and Ramirez is at .317 for his career, Arod at .312 and Pujols at .338.

Meph is there anyone out there that you know of that has more value than Pujols at the plate over the past 10 years or so?

Meph doesn't even think Manny's a HOF so I doubt he'll think he's the best hitter of this generation. I don't know that he's the best of the generation either, but I think he's in the discussion.

Wasn't Neifi on "the list".

Neifi only tested positive for adderall for adhd.

you'd sure be a blast to watch a ballgame with. i can imagine the fun discussions.

"I don't have any of my own opinions or original thoughts, I'll have to ask somebody else and wait to hear their judgement in which I will put full faith."

Manny Ramirez is the right answer though, and you can probably change "this generation" to "all-time".

Again, I'm not saying Manny is definately the best, but he certainly should be in the discussion. My top 5 guys would be (in no certain order):

ARod

Manny

Pujols

Vlady

Big Hurt

Wow. There's no reason to be a jerk.

Meph has stats coming out his ass for just about every baseball player on the planet, so I asked him because I was curious if he knew of anyone who had a higher EqA than Pujols. I asked him about what the stats say.

You've been on this board long enough to know that I'm as opinionated as they come, and my opinion is that Pujols is the best hitter now.
