One can dream....right?

One can vomit....right?

Typical meathead Bear fan response..as I figured.

In all honesty, the Edmonds situation worked better for the Cubs than this one would work for the Bears.

I think if he's granted his release he'll probably be a Viking, but I'd rather him be a Bear then be a Packer or Viking.

I'm pretty sure whatever Favre can still bring to the table is better than the mediocre crap of Orton/Grossman...it still amazes me that the Bears are basically wasting away the years of a great defense by fielding such crap on the other side of the ball...you would think Bears fans would be jumping at the chance to get Favre for a few years given the defense that is already in place.

It won't make us a Super Bowl contender. More than likely Favre wouldn't be nearly as effective with the offensive line and potential lack of running game we have in place. I see way too many botched plays by the O-Line leading to him forcing throws and interceptions. See 2005 Green Bay Packers. We already have a guy that can throw a lot of INTs. I'd rather see if we can develop Orton personally and see how things go. You are right that I think the D can be 2005-esque this year, but how can we guarantee they will stay healthy?

That's alot of "IF's and "Assumptions" in that post.

What can we really base it on? The Bears will have 2 new members of the O-line, 2 new starting receivers and a new starting running back this year. There isn't much on paper to judge this offense on.

First of all Favre would never come to the Bears. .

Why? If he is bitter against Packer managment, what better way to get back at them then signing with the Bears? It's probably the other way around..the Bears would never sign Favre as they have a policy against solid QB play.

Because there are several better teams to join that would give him a great shot to win the Super Bowl. Minnesota is an absolutely perfect destination, decent O-line, passable WRs, excellent running game, dome team, however my guess is the Vikings won't touch him now that these tampering charges have been brought up. Tampa Bay is a destination I hear a lot and think would work well for him.

So does anyone have any NFC NORTH "Pre camp" season predictions on how the standings will be in the black and blue this year?

I'm going to go with the consensus pick

Vikings

Packers

Bears

Lions

Not sure if the Packers grab a WC spot yet...but I'm leaning towards no. That's my irrational Packer hate speaking though probably.

Favre would be 100X better than Grossman or Orton. Sure he wouldn't make us a super bowl contender but he'd bring us a hell of a lot closer than what we have.

I doubt he'd ever come here either, but he would definitely be an improvement over our current situation, which to be honest looks downright bad on that side of the ball.

Name 5 teams in the NFC that are better than the Packers. You can't do it.

Not hard to imagine that Dallas, NY Giants, and Minnesota being better than Green Bay. After that, only either Philly or Washington has to be better to keep the Packers out of the playoffs. I don't know that anyone in the NFC West or South would be better, but they don't have to be to win those divisions.

My predictions for the NFC Central.

Minnesota 11-5

Green Bay 9-7

Chicago 7-9

Detroit 6-10

Sounds 'bout right. If the Bears were to finish over .500 it would be a big suprise in my mind, great defense or not.

IDK how people can say the favorites at te Vikes, and then basically say the Bears would be "lucky" to be .500 team. Both teams have great defenses (last yr was a fluke, and I expect them to be Top 5 this yr), both team have questionable QB.Vikes have a better line and RB, but IMO, the Bears have better WR core, imo. So, tell me again how is the Vike a 11 win team and the Bears a 7 win team?

The Bears, IMO, play their best ball, when people don't give them the credit they deserve. I suspect the Bears are going to come out and play with a tenacity that you saw during the Super Bowl yr. It wouldn't surprise if the Bears go into Indy's new place, and spoil the party by beating the Colts. I believe the Bears will win the division this (I know I sound like a gung-ho homer) yr---and it will be by atleast 2 games---and I do see the Vikes/Pack taking a step back. For the Pack it was inevitable, because going from Favre to Rodgers is a downgrade until proven otherwise. As for the Vikes, Berrian is going to be so lonely, cause IMO, the Vikes don't have the QB to get him the ball, and they will have to rely on APete more.

First of all the difference between the Vikings running game and the Bears is like the difference between the 1998 Yankees and the 2003 Tigers. Second of all, at best the Bears have an equal receiving corps than the vikings, and thats a huge huge stretch in my mind. Who do the Bears have? An aging Booker? Brandon Lloyd? These are retreads that may not even be on an NFL team if the Bears didn't sign them. Maybe Bradley will have a Berrian like impact but thats a huge maybe. The Vikings are in a different world than the Bears right now. The Bears will win 7 games this year, most likely 6 of those wins squarely because of the defense.

Exactly. Honestly as I mentioned before, I am letting my irrational hate of the Packers change my opinion. But to be honest, no one can really predict how the Packers do this year. They have a solid defense, but so did the Bears last year and even this year. If you would have told me the Bears would have finished under .500 last year I would have laughed in your face. The key is, they are replacing a stellar QB with an unproven one. Not many people can argue that the QB position is the most important in football, heck maybe even sports. As a Bears fan, I know how hard it is to find a good QB. So what if Rogers looked good for 3 quarters against Dallas last year. Rex Grossman owned the NFL for all of September of 06 and look where that got him.
