how about "hopefully this year we won't completely forget how to play baseball when we reach the playoffs"

Or if they are gonna be the pre-September Cubs of last year......

as a Japanse American, I find the Fukudome ad offensive.

Because of the rising sun flag? I always associated that version of the flag with war/nationalism so that's the first thing I noticed when I saw the ad.

I'm just kidding, I'm not Japanse American...but the "I don't need an interpreter" phrase? What is that supposed to mean? Japanese people are not capable of learning English? Racists.

Well, at least none of them will ever find out we're being so racist.

Man, this campaign is really getting me pumped up for the season. I think the Cubs should explore the idea of doing a japanese version of the Fukudome ad. I really would be interested in knowing how it would be received in Japan. I think it would cause a lot of interest in the Cubs. It would be cool to go to Japan, and see everybody wearing Cub caps!

McDonough didn't leave anyone who knew anything about advertisement did he?

This was done by an ad agency not the Cubs. Agency is Jones Chicago. They should be fired for this campaign. I find the campaign awful but that's just me and I am entitled to my opinion.

Grinder Rule #48. If you don't have to have one of your testicles surgically removed because you try so hard, you are playing like a Flub. Ohh and you're gay. And I want to knife you. And did I mention we won the World Series?

Yeah, that about sums it up. I don't dislike the Sox. It's their sophomoric fans that annoy me. Oh, and the new Cub ads. . . meh.

Awful is a nice way to put it.

Yes, that is exactly what they are saying.

Word is the Rising Sun image is a sign of Japan's imperialism and war-like mentality. Apparently, the image is rather offensive in places that have suffered under Japanese rule and attack, such as China.

The rising sun is still displayed by the Japanese navy. It's not a WW2 relic like the swastika flags of Germany.

And the Cubs are the sun in that pic. No surprise.
