Come on guys vote. Don't take into consideration if you think is realistic or not. Lets think that AM ask the cubs for this package and you are Jim Hendry. Just for fun. I want to get a feel of what NSB posters think.

Nope. I would say something like

Pie, Colvin, Gallagher, Marshall, Murton, Cedeno

for

Bedard, Roberts and Payton

We would take Payton because we'd need an extra OF with Pie and Murton gone. Ideally Hendry would search for another option to start the third OF spot eventually.

I voted no, but had to think about it first. Marmol is my major sticking point. Take him out and you have a deal.

A relief pitcher should never be a sticking point, IMO.

Gotta keep either Pie or Colvin. And I don't think you'll ever see a 7-for-2 deal. First off, nobody has that much 40-man space. Second, nobody wants to give up that much quantity, especially guys that close to the majors.

Make it Bedard and Roberts for Pie, Gallagher, Marshall, Cedeno and Murton...and I'd do it. If Marmol is included take out one of the other pitchers.

I voted yes and no, only because I could.

I wouldn't do it. Moreso because I'm not that high on Bedard than anything else.

IMO he's our best reliever, and possibly our closer. Giving up all of those prospects may even be too much, but my concern is winning a World Series title, so that one reliever - to me - is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Not having him on the team this year can easily make this more of a lateral move than one that pushes us closer to winning the trophy with all the little metal flags on it.

I'm not a huge fan of adding Bedard with Hill and Lilly already penciled in. If we have to lose Pie, Marmol, and guys like Gallagher/Colvin, it's a big hit to our system.

I'd rather go after a decent RH starter and stand pat on the 2b spot with DeRosa. If anything, add a SS to allow Theriot to play 2b if DeRosa has to move around.

Never?

If Hendrys gonna sell the farm he should make that offer to the Twins for Santana/Harris. They'd be more than likely to dump Rincon on us which might not be a bad thing if he rebounds.

I would make this deal if the following moves take place before :

a) Sign Lofton to 1 year deal

B) Find a platoon partner for Lofton

C) Get a commitment from Lou about playing Derosa at SS.

Losing Marmol would really hurt the team but by adding Bedard Dempster gets move into the bullpen to take Marmol's spot. Dempster didn't do a bad job last year at all. I believe he was 28-31 in saves or soemthing like that. Also his era got inflated by 4 really bad outings he had and 2 of those came againts the same team(mets). You take away those 4 outings and his era would have been something like 2.54 Getting Bedard and Roberts would make the team one of the favorites in the NL.

Lineup:

Roberts 2B

Lofton CF

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Soriano LF

Fukudome RF

De Rosa SS

Soto C

Bedard

Zambrano

Lilly

Hill

Marquis

Dempster

Wood

Howry

Hart

Eyre

Wuertz

Ascanio or Lahey

I would go for it.

Maybe he believes that Marmol could start.

For future reference, when creating polls, one should allow multiple responses only if it actually makes sense for an individual to give more than one answer. :D
